I wouldn't be surprised if films are shot on this location. The lobby is amazing for its style, and the vacant rooms are left open for browsing. The only incongruity is the ugly fluorescent light bulbs, which cast a greenish/white hue which conflicts with the red-toned décor.

The proprietor would do much better to replace them with LED bulbs of a more authentic to the period color.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. We appreciate the feedback, and since you mentioned it, I will personally look into changing the lighting to something softer and more appealing. "It's in the details" has always been our motto - so it's nice to have details we may have overlooked brought to our attention.
We hope you will visit us again when your travels bring you to Dayton.
Best Wishes,
Shellie McLeod

I bought "Step Back In Time" from Walla Walla Hospice silent auction at the "Evening of Elegance" fund raiser. It included 2 nights at the Weinhard Hotel and dinner at the Weinhard Cafe. They are both excellent. A BIG THANK-YOU to both! The Weinhard Hotel is a beautifully restored historic show piece. Friendly owners, lovely antiques. Room 16 had it's own thermostat so adjusted to "just right", a fridge, hairdryer, direct TV, flat screen TV, lamps on each side of the bed. Hot water right away in tub/showerwith wonderful goats milk soap. Soft sheets, comfy bed. Nice "continental" Breakfast. Did the historic walking tour. Went thru Boldman House museum and historic Depot. Tasted mead and wine at Mace Meadworks =good! Beer at Skye Book and Brew =good! Wonderful Dinner at Weinhards Cafe. Walked thru the art gallery...all with in walking distance. What a wonderful week-end. Thank-You

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here over Thanksgiving. What a grand home away from home! The room was delightfully spacious and the bed extremely comfortable while the shower was immediately hot with good water flow. Scrumptious. The home made morning muffins, the delicious morning coffee and availability of wines for sale (to consume in glasses from the kitchen) rounded out the visit. Dayton's home style opening of Christmas with family events, including a parade, was great fun. Owners, Shellie and Gary, who can direct you to good restaurants (while making a float out of their van for the parade), are superb hosts. You won't regret a visit here. Bobbi M.

Im not a expert in dayton lodging, but i venture to say this is the best in town. A truly wonderful hotel. Twelve foot ceilings. Grand lobby. Great hosts. It was very private in october. Our room was #6. And i must recomend. Canopy queen bed and larger than most. All the rooms are unique and if the doors are open they let you check them out. You get a small fruit basket and a contienental breakfast to boot. It will not break the bank either. Use AAA and most rooms go for $112.00 + tax. If your staying in Dayton a must do.

Room Tip: Go to their website and they provide a discription and a photo of each room. Also if stairs are not...

Take a step back in time and enjoy the Weinhard Hotel on your next visit to Dayton Washington. They have lovingly restored this property. The rooms are good size with original high ceiling and beautiful carved bed frames and dressers. The wood banisters and stairs are polished to a bright glowing shine. The roof garden is the perfect setting for that before dinner glass of wine. It faces the hills and the sun was shinning on the fresh cut wheat land. What a treat.
In the morning they had coffee, muffins and fruit ready for your consumption before heading out on your morning walk of the restored town.
Don't miss staying at this hotel on your next visit to Dayton.

We stayed one night at the Weinhard and enjoyed it thoroughly. Gary checked us in and offered friendly, helpful advice about restaurants, etc. There were cider, crackers, & cheese in the lobby (late afternoon). Our room was plenty large (#3) and well appointed, including a little frig. The ceilings were very high, so it felt extra roomy. We heard no hotel or outside noise during the night--although we had the AC fan on, so it could have masked noises. The morning continental breakfast was adequate--coffee and muffins were very good. We were totally satisfied. If you have time, take one of the walking tours of the nearby historic neighborhoods--really interesting.

The original owners did a magnificent job restoring this historic three story building, plus roof top garden. Our phone conversations with the staff had been most enjoyable, and we were greeted warmly. The hotel is wonderfully furnished with antiques. Our room was comfortable; the bed having high quality sheets that may be ordered for purchase. However, underneath the warm, spotless elegance were some details that might be addressed. Guests are welcomed with fruit and a piece of chocolate in their rooms. Ours had no chocolate. Being chocolate lovers we mentioned it. Our host at the desk seemed not sure about believing us, and then said the "we are training a new girl." A minor thing but how things are handled matters. Most disappointing was breakfast, which basically consisted of cereal and muffins on a serving board, with the rest in a fridge. Weak coffee is served, but a stronger brew must be must be purchased. While many inns and hotels sell odds and ends, there seemed to be just a hint of excess in this area. Such a lovely place should try to be sure that what guests receive matches the impressions given by the building and its history, which is beautifully written and presented in a booklet in each room. All in all good value for the price, breakfast excepted. One last note. Rooms on the front, right on main street may be noisy for light sleepers.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter
