We stopped in Davenport for a night on a longer trip and were simply looking for a place to spend the night. The room we had (can't remember exactly how it was called) was the "2nd highest standard" offered and was definitely clean. The shared bathroom was also clean however the tons of shampoo and shower gel were disturbing--no idea how old these are and where they got them from... The room was noisy though, as the window was towards the main road. We also were not too impressed about the amenities and the bed. However, the owner family is extremely nice and they have the BEST breakfast!!

Stayed: September 2008

Davenport is a small town in Eastern Washington not too far from Lake Roosevelt. We passed through here on a road trip and found that our AAA tour book only had the Davenport Motel listed as an overnite possibility - and a rather institutionalized looking one at that. Down the street further (1001 Morgan Street) is this quaint old Victorian house that has been turned into a B&B (4 rooms in all) above a turn of the 19th century styled Parisian cafe - the place has been in business for about 4 years and is operated by 2 couples retired from farming/ranching life. Rates run from $65 to $85 for the turret room - definite value for money. There is one shared bathroom that includes a small jetted hot tub along with a fair sized shower. You grab whatever towels you need from the linen closets and utilize the hamper outside the door for used ones. Each room is designed to have a semblance of a sitting area in addition to a bed and has its own fridge and coffee maker along with a taste of the owners' personal herbal tea blend. The best description of this place would be like visiting an older, favorite aunt who has oversized, comfy furniture in each of the rooms, lots of poofy feminine stuff here and there but is completely no-nonsense about serving a hearty breakfast.

Overall clean, comfortable with thick carpeted rugs and a place I'd recommend staying at if on a road trip. Even if you aren't staying overnite, I recommend stopping for a meal and heartily endorse the breakfasts. The cook has one of the best french toast recipes I've tasted. Breakfast is served from 6am - 11am while lunch is served until 3pm. Kitchen closes at that time.

Cons:

1. Our coffee maker had not been washed out so we had to run it through a couple of cleaning sessions before using it.
2. There are too many soaps and miniature shampoos cluttering up the bathroom - many of which were partially used which lends to a bit of an "ick" factor. Again, it presupposes the favorite older aunt who has all these little testers she wants to share but it doesn't really work. If the owners would get rid of the samples and just have general dispensers in the shower and at the sink, that would help
