“A nice camping spot”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

We camped for 3 nights at the end of August and enjoyed our stay. Service was friendly at check in and in the stores. The area was clean, and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. There are pay showers but for 50 cents you got 10 minutes which was plenty. There are A LOT of wasps so that was a bit of a challenge, and the wind on 2 of the nights was unbelievable - it felt like the trailer was going to be picked up and thrown across the lake! The pool was small, but fine.

This was my first stay in one of the Sun Lakes Resort cabins. I stayed in Lakeside #16. Yes, it is small, but it brings the family closer together. This is a wonderful Summer destination for families. My young son made many friends just playing in front of the cabins in the grass. We enjoyed our daily ice cream from the onsite stand and playing in the water(pool and lake). Also, had a lot of fun at "Water wars" and mini golf. I saw others boating and fishing in the lake. Families were everywhere! Everybody seemed happy and enjoying themselves! The grounds were clean and the employees were very friendly! We are going to make Sun Lakes Resort a yearly destination for my family.

My husband's family has been coming here for family reunions since 1970. I've only been coming for the past 6 years, but there are usually around 100 of us. It is a perfect place to relax, rent a paddle boat or canoe, fish, swim, play golf or shop for souvenirs. We love it!

Room Tip: We always stay in the newest cabins, but this last time the wind kept catching something up on the r...

I caveat this by saying the word "Resort" here is used loosely. Three stars may be a little harsh, but this place isn't fancy and the cabins are a little run down. Prime season rates are a little high for the quality of the accommodations. You need to bring your own cookware, soap, sundries, etc. However, the location is beautiful, there are lots of swimming options, boat rentals are reasonable, plenty to do, playground at the state park, etc. We came here with younger kids and our dog - it worked well. I don't know how older teenagers would fare unless they have a friend/sibling to hang with, swim with, ride bikes, etc. We are thinking about making this a yearly gathering place. Staff is great. Wi-fi is limited and doesn't always work.

Room Tip: Like side cabins are great, smaller than the bigger cabins, but the trees provide great shade to lou...

Yes the cabins need updating but the resort is an awesome place for those who love the water and for kids. For $30 a day our family was able to have unlimited use of the mini golf course (best one I have ever played) and all the watercraft. My two sons loved fishing from the dock and from the row boats. We all learned to paddle a canoe, pedal the two different kind of pedal boats and row the row boat. Swimming was nice in both the heated pool and the swimming area.

And if that isn't enough our car broke down when we were there, because of our cell service we had no phone. The office and staff were so nice and helpful with letting us borrow their phone to work out arrangements for towing our car, getting it fixed and figuring out our next moves.

We were orginally only going to stay 3 nights, spend one extra because of the car issue and then the two little kids (7 and 10) and I decided to stay for 4 more nights. I can't wait to go here again.

Had a wonderful experience at Sun Lakes. New mini golf course, paddle boats, bicycle boats, row boats, store, restaurant, and a gift shop. Prices were reasonable. Cabin was clean. Staff was very friendly. Can't wait to go back next year!

Spent the weekend with our travel trailer at Sun Lake Park Resort. After reading some of the reviews of this park I had no idea what to expect (Russians? Give me a break). The RV facility is nice - shade, hookups, showers, picnic tables, trash bins everywhere, scenic location, etc. No complaints. Activities for all: beach, launch for boats, watercraft rentals, mini-golf, 9 hole regulation course within walking distance at a reasonable price, Coulee dam a short drive away, etc.
Plan to go back and spend some more time and visit Soap Lake, fish, etc.

Golf course was pretty challenging if you can't get your drives in the fairways. Balls rolled good on the greens. For this price ($13 for nine holes; gas cart was $14)- I think it is an excellent value.

Room Tip: Stayed at the RV sites. Will try and get one close to the big grass area next time.
