The pictures neglect to show how compact an area all the RVs are in, how close to the road it is and how the accommodations are dated/not clean. Cabin 10 must be numbered that because it is 10 feet from the road. I am not sure what I liked the most about the cabin. The smell of dog and stale urine or the hairs on the shower curtain. The bathroom smelled bad and I felt as dirty after the shower as I did before. If you have $90-$100 to spend, I would suggest you go somewhere else. I am okay with "rustic" but not okay with sheets that fell like they were not recently washed or dog, musty and urine smell. Maybe we stayed on an off night but I am not taking that chance again.

Room Tip: If you feel like taking the chance on this place, do not get cabin #10 unless any of my review sound...

Enjoyed our stay last year that we returned again just a week ago. We are RV campers and like it here because of the amenities: clean bathroom/shower facilities, wide RV spots, restaurant, pool and quiet time is 10 pm. Cost is $30 a night and in your spot is electricity and water hook-up. Our favorite location is anywhere along the back fence as you're a bit further from the highway and the fence comes in handy to hang wet clothing. If you use the showers, it's 50 cents and no problems with water pressure or lack of hot water. The restaurant last year was a diner, now its pizza, soup and salad only. Pizzas are oven baked yet tasty, the salads are pretty generic so skip it and wait for the pizza to arrive. We tried the chili topped with generous amounts of onions & cheese but found it to be dry and comparable to can chili. *Note restaurant hours close at 7 maybe 8 pm during the summer season, so come before then. We'd eat late from the days activities so barely made it before they closed. Servers turned away customers at the stroke of 8 pm which I found surprising as this is the height of the busy season. I guess they don't need the biz?! ---the only complaint is the poor WI-FI access! We were told only 17 users at a time and with several hundred folks at the resort, it's inadequate. The two nights there, we could not access it. It would be NICE thing to have but we managed without it. There is a computer and printer in the restaurant so that's another option, if you don't mind sitting next to folks eating their meal. Overall, we enjoy staying here and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: RV or tent campers, ask for a spot along the back fence, it sits away from the busy road.

Location is great - very convenient to the Mt St Helens South side attractions. We stayed with a group in Cabin 8, which is HUGE - basically a small house. Everything was clean, including the dishes and full kitchen which we used. The decor is rustic, and some furnishings were a bit
dated, but it felt OK to us being in a back-country setting. There were some kids in the pool, which appeared clean and well kept. There is an interesting collection of climbers, fishermen, RV'ers, tenters staying here. Very quiet in the evening. I will definitely return here when vacationing in the area.

On the plus side, the rooms are very large, they are clean and there's zero mold in the bathrooms, the mattresses are better than average and the setting is magnificent. So why rate it a 3 out of 5? Well there's no way to give a motel like this a 5 star, so its max is a 4. It gets a 3 because the carpets needed replacing 10 years ago and it hasn't been updated since who knows how long (decades). I'd definitely stay here again, but its just not fair to give it a 4/very good. But I feel bad about giving it a 3 because we all slept beautifully. I rated the fitness center 5 star because of its proximity to outstanding outdoor activity - it would be silly to put in treadmills here lol.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bigger rooms. Hey it might be only $10 more big deal right?

We stayed two nights in a queen bed room. The room was fair sized, had a microwave, coffee pot and fridge along with a small tv with a half dozen stations. For the $72 a night price it was exactly what we were looking for since we were here to climb Saint Helens not relax at a resort. This is not a place you hang around all day. I think there are new owners and most of the bad comments go back to the previous ownership. The grounds were very well kept for this type of place and our room was fairly clean altough a thourough dusting would go a long ways. There are no phones or phone service in the area but they do have free wifi. The restaurant is not open Mon - Wed. so the bar down the street is the only food option outside the small grocery. Lots of climbers/hikers heading up Helens stay here so expect commotion in the early morning. Lone Fir was perfect for what we were looking for, the service was friendly and we had a positive experience. Just remember your in the sticks.

Recently I purchased my first Travel Trailer. Our first "Shake Down" trip was to the Lone Fir Resort. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make this experience a wonderful introduction to the RVing lifestyle. The facility was in a great location, and nicely maintained. I would HIGHLY recommend staying there and am already looking forward to our next trip there.
