“Awesome Relaxation, Close to Seattle”
Reviewed April 10, 2011

My husband and I took advantage of the Living Social Escapes deal a few months ago. I always worry about these things and how you might get treated at the hotels, given my past experiences with travel discounters. However, the service in every area of the hotel and resort was top notch. We felt so pampered and I've rarely slept so well away from home. Our package came with some extras and the hotel went out of their way to make it easy on us. We didn't have to ask for a thing. The food in the two restaurants (basically same menu, but nice to have a choice) was quite good and the winery down the street (Swiftwater) was a fun stop as well. The spa was incredible, one of the best I have ever been to and the fitness center was superb. Once you get here, there's really no reason to leave. A perfect getaway! Can't give it high enough remarks!

We have stayed at Suncadia over and over again and have never been disappointed. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are 5 star! They have everything you need including hairdryer, robes, extra blankets, pillows, reading area, two flat screen tvs, pull out bed, tub and shower. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, I have never met anyone rude at Suncadia. The pool and waterslides kept our family busy. They have a wonderful swim and fitness facility with great showers and lockers. Everything is first class here. We have been lucky to always come here on promotionals so we have never payed full price. We've also come in the summer and enjoyed biking all the trails and the outdoor pool.

We bought our room through Living Social deal.....or we thought it was a deal at the time. Turns out it's pretty much a scam. Even though the room was still available on the web-site, when I called, they had "just sold out". So we had to up-grade (for a weekend in April). Then when I went to make our spa appointement (with the $50 gift certificates you get with your "deal"), nothing works for it, except if you spend close to another $100 out of your pocket. On the fine print of the "deal" it says that you may use it towards a massage or faical or other services, but not towards a pedicure or manicure. So, I asked to use it towards the mineral baths in there, that cost a fee just to access. Of couse, since this is within the $50, they said no. The fine print should read can only be used towards, not may be. Very frustrating, since this is only the second time in 5 years, we've been able to get away. Living Social offered a refund, but it's the only weekend we can go. I think they should have offered $100 off, since that's the price of our gift certificates. Also, we only saved $30 on the room from the listed price and we had to pay more than the "deal" because of the "upgrade" Plus, the front desk service was awful on the phone. Very rude!

I want to warn anyone considering renting one of Suncadia's vacation homes. A group of us stayed at 71 Lily Court. There were many things broken and/or in disrepair in the home, although it was a lovely home. We were a very calm group of church ladies between the ages of 24 and 63. While climbing down from the top bunk, one of our (smaller) ladies stepped on the edge of the mattress and something broke underneath the bed. To make a long story short, the owners of this home went out a purchased a brand new bunk bed for over $800 and charged the account of the young lady who handled our reservation. It appears that their maintenance program is just to wait until things break in their home, then charge the guests for brand new items. Although we tried numerous times to reason with them, and would have even been willing to pay for repairs, they preferred to have us pay for a brand new bed. The bed that was broken was old and weakened and probably not worth even $100. Very sad...

We spent a Saturday night during a quick weekend getaway from Seattle.

Our room was a deluxe studio, and very comfortable. We did not have a fireplace, but didn't really miss it as the accomodations were so cozy. The furnishings and fixtures were of exceptionally high quality, and the small studio kitchen was handy.

We enjoyed cocktails by the lobby fireplace - very romantic. You can always judge an establishment by its house wines, and the house wines here were great! We also had a late reservation at Portals. The dining room was beautiful, and the cuisine was very appropriate for a winter lodge. My wife had an elk burger, and I had the French dip - both were out of this world and hit the spot. As others have noted, service was on the slower side, but still pleasant. We enjoyed the leisurely pace.

On the morning of checkout, we were greeted with a foot of snow. I had to dig the car out of self-parking. If risk of snow - the $8 valet parking is worth it. Fortunately, the valet was kind enough to help with the chains. In fact, he drove us to the indoor parking garage under the hotel where he installed the chains for us. I thought that was above and beyond.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at Suncadia! We had a Living Social Deal at Suncadia and will be going back for sure. The spa services we received were excellent; both uf us had body treatments. Our dinner at Portals was excellent. When the waiter overheard us talking about our annivesary, he delivered "Happy Anniversary" Chocolates to us. We also took a sleigh ride which was fun. The room was great, we loved the fireplace. We also had room service for breakfast and it was fast and delicious; best eggs benedict we have had in recent memory.

The only cons I would say is that my husband had to go find the valet when we first arrived there on Wednesday afternoon. The valet service was great on Thursday morning. We had a very romantic time but keep in mind that the lodge is very family friendly. Many of the activities are for kids and adults but you can still have a great time as a couple.

We spent Christmas with the family at the lodge. While not cheap, it was a great place to spend a winter holiday. There was great snowy views, nice decoration, fireplace in the room, pool and hot-tub close by, and cross-country skiing trails right off the front door. The room had a nice kitchen and dining area, so we were able to cook and share some gourmet meals. Even though the staff was a little overwhelmed, everyone was nice and helpful.
