“Road Noise?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2013

We've stayed at Best Western's throughout our lives. We have always had a fair-good experience. We booked a room at the Cle Elum Best West. for 3 nights. When I read the reviews, all stated that the "road noise" was an issue. When we checked in, we asked the Hotel Rep. about it. She stated that "No one had ever complained about the freeway noise." We asked if she would put us in a room on the opposite side of the Hotel. She said "they were booked and all the queen rooms were on that side anyway". I again asked where our room would be in conjunction to the freeway and that we were concerned as we'd read reviews that there was a lot of noise. She couldn't believe it! We were very skeptical, but took her word. We opened the window in the room for air and heard some road noise but thought it was due to the DOT trucks pulling in and out of the parking lot; this was early afternoon. We were out all day and came back in the late evening. Had to close the window as the noise was loud from the road and parking lot. When we finally fell asleep, we were awakened by what sounded like a severe wind storm or crashing waves at the ocean. It was the freeway! Loud and clear, All night! Then to top it off, the DOT trucks and crews (below us) were in and out...all night. The straw that broke the camel's back was laying awake at 5:00am, we heard snoring...coming from a room near us? Instead of staying 3 nights/4 days, we checked out that morning. The Hotel rep. then offered to move us to a new room....too late and not going to chance another sleepless night.

Unfortunately we have no control over road noise or parking lot noise. We have a maintenance person who stays here all week and never hears the road noise and his room is on that side of the building.

The hotel was great, and so was the trip. I do however, have a problem with you expecting a minimum of 200 characters for a review......I will never waste my time doing this again! This survey has taken 30 minutes to complete and I don't like that.

We are glad you enjoyed staying here. As for the review length you will have to take that up with Trip Advisor as we have no control over that

We drove up to a nicely appointed property and were greeted at the front desk. Our room was in a quiet part of the hotel as far as interior traffic goes, but the freeway was nearby. The builders did a good job with sound insulation, but one can often still hear the hum of the road. Luckily, or rather smartly, we travel with the disposable twist up ear plugs - and for airplane travel an mp3 player!

Great rooms with really nice beds. There is a Safeway right next door and we didn't want to go out for dinner again on this trip, so we got a chicken and a salad.

Went for a dip in the smallish hot tub and was prevented from a quiet dip in the pool due to numerous taxpayers-to-be. The weekend was sold out, and we were just looking for a really comfortable bed and a good sleep before heading into Seattle fro the Seahawks vs Broncos.

We found it here.

This hotel is good value for the dollar.

Tip: Get your gasoline further down the street at the Shell. About 4 cents difference from the in town pumps.

I called them directly for reservations but all they had was a queen handicapped room, so I went to the internet where they had a king room with a soaker tub for two. The tub was in the bedroom - no jets. It was like having a bathtub in the bedroom and another bath in the bathroom.

The room was very large with refrigerator, microwave, a sitting area and a very large TV. We like to have a window open at night rather than have air conditioning. There's a lot of freeway noise although it is like white noise and not as bad as I'd expected.

Breakfast was wanting with scrambled eggs that had liquid in the pan - it was all very ordinary with not much selection. Why 4 stars - the bed was great which is the standard I look for.

The room smelled like smoke. The room needed to be aired out. Did not smell clean or fresh. The matteress had dips and needed to be replaced. The breakfast was delightful and hightlight to the stay. The room was situated by the pool and it was noisy by the poolside.

As reviewed, the outside locale is definitely wanting (is right near I-90, right next to Safeway parking lot & fast food joints) but once inside the room was really great, esoecially for the AAA discounted price. Ours was the King with Sleeper Sofa "suite" and was clean, comfy, quiet (mostly) and good for a getaway. Breakfast is what you'd expect but had all the basics & would be great for kids for the convenience & being free and early. We walked to dinner in town & was an overall nice time.
