This was a pleasant 2 1/2 hour boat ride from Chelan to Stehekin. In the off season, the boats make only one trip a day four days a week. I would recommend you bring your own lunch and beverages. The layover is for only one hour at most. The lodge restaurant is only open between noon and 1:30. They had only one guy at the cash register and a woman doing the cooking. They needed at least one other person to serve. I felt bad they were understaffed. About 20 minutes of our layover was wasted waiting in line. We had brought sandwiches but my husband wanted a beer and chips too. I had bought a beverage on the boat.
We had about 10 minutes left to walk to the visitor center and check it out before the boat was to leave at 1:30pm.
The boat makes a couple of stops on the way up and back where they pick up more passengers or where some get off.
If going in off season with no Stehekin lodging reservations, bring your own lunch and beverage.
