“Great place to relax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

I love Kelly's Resort! The cabins are very clean and have all you need. The pool is very nice with a ton of chairs and the pool is heated. You can bring your boat and enjoy the lake or just relax and use thier kayaks or canoes. If you want to be right by downtown this is not the place for you but it is a short drive to enjoy the town. We have been here with our kids and without. It is a beautiful setting. We brought our dog this last time and that was great!

Booked this on a whim cause we wanted to get away for the weekend, and to a place that accepted dogs.
Jeff Kelly (owner) answered and gave us an acceptable rate, asked if we'd be coming late, and gave us instructions if so. He also told us to buy groceries for our breakfast before getting up there, even though he has a pretty decent selection on site (and not too badly priced). Nice gesture, if nothing else.

We stayed in a very quaint cabin 5, across the road from the lake. It has everything you need, part from internet access (available down by the beach/main building, in case you need to be connected while away).

It is rustic, yes, but fully functional, with a bedroom with a queen, and one larger room with two twins. decent sized bathroom with a shower stall, more towels than you need, and if asking, beach towels to be used by beach or pool. Wood floors throughout.
TV, DVD player, new gas BBQ on the deck outside, range, micro, wood stove (firewood included), central forced air heat/A/C. In short, our cabin really had everything we'd ever need. Yes, there are cracks between old cabin and more recent addition that allows for leaks of heat/cool, but these cabins are so nicely laid out, that I could live here year round.

There is a nice pool up the hill (30 seconds walking) that we did not use, and trails above that one for you or your pup.
Jeff Kelly was REALLY friendly, w/o being "intrusive" as some small resort owners can be. He shared information about the area, history of the resort, stories, and my favorite topic, boats.
He also nicely fixed a "deck side" fire for a couple that arrived late in the evening, and we by pure chance joined them. We had a great chat in front of an amazing lake, some cheese and some wine, while watching the stars fall.

The main building and deck could have been lifted straight from the shores of Lago di Como or Lago di Garda in Italy. Only thing missing are a few Rivas moored in the water (though he has an Italian flag on the dock house), but I truly think you will see some of those during the busy summer season. There is NOT a lack of pricey and beautiful "woodies" in this part of the state.

This place allows for moorage of your boat (and dockside fuel), in case you haul it up here, and there are canoes and kayaks for use by the guests. If you are interested in boats and the outdoors, there is tons of reading material to borrow.

Laundromat available to the guests.

Only thing I would probably note is the price, but this is really not a negative as such. I want to be able to get out in the woods and stay below $100/night, but since so many are willing to pay more, why would a resort owner not charge what people are willing to pay? Lake Chelan is also a pricey area, since it is very popular during the hot and sunny summer, so the rates at Kelly's are not really above anything else, especially considering that you are "on" the water.

Kelly's is about a 20 min pretty drive from the City of Chelan (part quaint, part tourist trap) where you will find everything you need (including Starbucks). I can see that some stressed visitors will race up and down this small road in the summer, but I also think the police will nab them. This is NOT an area where you should be in a rush. Be aware, or rather, be respectful of posted speed limits and fellow drivers.

Short, as long as I can afford it, I will gladly come back to Kelly's Resort, and I hope it does not get too crazy in the summer - but how can it with only a limited number of cabins, and four lake front condos?

If being in and around Chelan is important Kelly's Resort is not the place for you. It's twenty minutes to the town of Chelan.

When we booked we thought this wouldn't be a big issue, since Kelly's boasts a pool and lakeside swimming. The lakeside swimming is small and the water is still with lots of bugs hovering over it; the pool also had a good few bugs floating in it. Not appealing.

Beyond that, the place is not rustic and charming, it's ill-kept. Our cabin smelled musty, the linens were old, stained and felt like sandpaper. The beds were rock hard.

In short, at $200 plus a night, it's not worth it. Spend a bit more and stay in the town. Campbell's looks amazing and we'll head there for sure next time.

Mr. Kelly made every effort to take care of us. He was genuine, helpful and well informed about the lake and its surroundings. Staff were nothing short of excellent. Though it is priced above others, Kelly's Resort and its location make up for the cost. We would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed at Kelly's for three nights in August, it was wonderful. Our one bedrom cabin was quaint,. perfect size for our family of two adults, one toddler, one baby and one beagle. We received a warm welcome upon check in..even though we arrived quite late. The resort is maintained beautifully. The store and coffee shop are located right by the lake near the swimming area which is filled with "floaties" for swimmers to use. There is also complimentary use of canoes and kayaks. The swimming pool is huge and maintained beautifully, we even had it to ourselves all day. The staff who runs and maintains the resort are all very friendly and nice as well.

I've been staying at Kelly's with my family three years in a row now. We typically stay for six to eight days. I take care of business during the days while my family hangs out. This is a family-operated resort that has been in business over 50 years. The resort comprises about 20 acres and consists about five lakefront apartment-type units and about 15 cabins located in the woods across the road. Although the cabins are relatively rustic, they are very clean and well-stocked with necessary utensils. Similarly, the grounds are well kept and clean. The pool is a highlight.

This is not a glitzy resort and does not offer the typical amenities like spa, restaurant, golf, etc. If you're looking for a dime-a-dozen resort with downtown activities and expect to be pampered, this is probably not the right place for you. It is a family-oriented resort suitable for swimming, boating and general relaxation. It is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Chelan.

Most of the guests are repeat visitors. Several of the families we've met have been spending their vacations here for generations. There is a family feel and the owner and staff will likely remember your name for years. It is truly a unique establishment and we look forward to coming back year after year.

My parents and I stayed here over the weekend for the Lake Chelan Marathon. We an 2 bedroom apartment on the upper level with a beautiful view of the lake. It is probably about a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Chelan.
Our apartment had one room with a queen bed, the other 2 twins. It was listed as accomadations for 4 people. The kitchen has a dishwasher and is stocked with all the dishes and utensils you would need. There is coffee pot and microwave as well. The deck had seating for 4 and a gas bbq. The bed were ok, the pillows a little flat so bring your own. There is a dining table, couch, chairs, wood burning fireplace (they provided wood), and tv (w/ cable) in the living area.
There is a little store in the main building with some items, but prices are more than I expected so stop in town if you're planning on stocking up. They have kayaks, row boats, etc for use. There is a little swim area with lounge chairs and floaties also. There is also a dock. We did not have to do any laundry when we left, but that also meant there wasn't a washer / dryer in unit.
