“Apple blossoms everywhere”

We love visiting places in their off season. The lake is at its lowest before the spring runoff raises the height 10 feet for the summer boating season. A few brave souls are fishing in the cold (47F) water. At Wapato Point you can walk for miles along the shoreline. The river walk downtown Chelan is nice as well.

“Lake Chelan”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

This is an approximately 55 mile long x 1 mile wide lake starting from sunny Chelan and backtracking roughly northwesterly towards the Cascade Mountains.

The water is clean and cold. It is a horrible place to waterski in the summer due to the rough conditions caused by all the boat traffic and sometimes whipped up by the wind. The lake gets more scenic the more you get into the mountains.

One can take one of the boat (Lady of the Lake) or a float plane up lake. You can combine the trip with a boat one way and float plane the other way.

There are nice parks around the lake.

The City of Chelan has a fair amount of non-chain restaurants and hotels/motels. The accommodations can be quite expensive for what you get, especially in the summer.

“Lovely Lake”
Reviewed March 20, 2014

What a beautiful lake! We stayed in Chelan four nights and enjoyed drives on both sides of the lake. We had taken the mail boat to Stehekin on a previous visit which was also a delightful trip. A grass fire burned on a nearby hillside which was interesting to watch. After dark we could see the hot spots flaring up on the hill. We live in a fire-prone area so here was one which did not cause us to evacuate! A trip to Twisp and Winthrop was fun. Disappointing that we missed the moose who had toured Winthrop the previous day! Shopping in Chelan was rewarding because I found parts for my water mister. Also bought a skirt! Fun place to visit!

“One of thee most beautiful lakes in the world.”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

My latest visit this past August brought back many memories from year's past. Lake Chelan is just so majestic. Carved from glaciers, it is about forty nine miles long. But just a mile or two wide. Like a long snake. But Lake Chelan is also deep. Hundreds and hundreds of feet deep. Holding giant trout In The depths. And so crystal clear. I won't go any further than to say that I suggest on an extended visit to Washington State that Lake Chelan should be on your must see list.
