“Cheap & Easy Stopover”
Reviewed April 28, 2014 via mobile

Close to the entrance of Adelaide, it's easy to find and there's no need to enter the city traffic if you're just passing through. No frills and very 70s, but the room was large with a very comfortable, clean and warm bed, all basic amenities and a clean bathroom. Plenty of secure parking. We asked for a room at the back so as not to hear the highway. Overall it was quiet, the flight path starts at 6:30am, which was no problem. Reception was friendly and efficient and they honoured our booking made 8+ months earlier without a deposit. Next door is a Mexican restaurant, which served fantastic and cheap food. A 5 minute drive away is the cafe strip of Norwood, which was perfect for breakfast. A cheap & easy stop over at the Granada.

Recently spent three nights at the Granada and was very happy to be upgraded and get the same room as my last visit. Since then the bathroom has been renovated, great water pressure in the shower. To be able to park outside your room is also a bonus. The lovely people at reception are helpful and I will definitely return again. The motel is also close to Burnside Shopping Centre and across the road I found The Burnside noodle and wine bar which offers great food and service.

Room Tip: Ground floor at the back.

Got an early check-in as our room was ready and the check-in process was fast. We stayed in the older building and our room is located at the back of the building, hence more quiet.

Room was spacious with a double bed, a small dining table and wardrobe. A microwave, toaster, kettle and basic cutlery were also provided. There is a shared kitchen if one wants to cook. Throughout our stay, the housekeeping was good.

Bus stop to city is only 20m away. Bus frequency is every 15min during peak hours and every 30m during off peak hours. Burnside Village shopping mall with Coles supermarket in it is only 700m or about 10min walk away.

The only problem we had during our stay was the room door. It rattled when the wind blows and it kept us awake at night.

We stayed here again after coming back from Melbourne for one night before flying home. This time round, we got a room in the newer building which is smaller but with newer furnishings.

Room comes with 2 small tables, a couch and wardrobe. A microwave, toaster, kettle and basic cutlery were also provided. The newer room also has a better quality door and we didn't have any issue with rattling door.

We arrived at the hotel past 9pm. The guy at reception was very efficient in the check-in process.

We recently stayed at the Gananda for one night. The location is handy for access to the city and to the hills... although I think staying anywhere in Adelaide is handy to most places.

Bang for buck, its pretty good. I booked 2 ground floor Executive Rooms. For the price, these rooms were well appointed. My only disappointment was that these rooms were at the front of the building. Portrush Road is (for Adelaide) a reasonably busy thoroughfare, and although the traffic noise did not affect us, it could for others.

The free wifi was a bonus. We also ordered breakfast via the Mexican restaurant next door. You had the choice of eating at the restaurant or delivered to you room. Delivery to your room was at no extra cost. Just make sure you pre-order your breakfast the day before.

I would probably stay again.

The motel is a 1960s building, but the rooms have been nicely refurbished - they are larger than average, have comfortable beds, nicely appointed bathrooms and nice furnishings and fittings. As a person sensitive to noise, I found this to be a quiet place - the only noise was from a few people in the car park below. Breakfast is available (for motel guests only) from the Mexican restaurant next door, but only by prior arrangement - it is only open to the public in the evening. The service at Reception was, for the most part, obliging - the only hiccup being when I asked them, because I was going out, to ring the restaurant on my behalf later in the evening in order to book in for breakfast the following morning, which they regarded as something of an imposition...

The only real criticisms I have are:
1) the publicity brochure, which looks fine but is riddled with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, punctuation errors, and statements that are meaningless or, in one case, completely incomprehensible! I think this is a shame given the amount of effort that has obviously been put into it, and
2) the absence of a printed guide to motel services and facilities in the rooms, which necessitates guests to ask staff for any information they require.

Room Tip: Request a room away from the street, which is fairly busy.

My husband and I recently stayed here on our trip to Adelaide and were impressed with the customer service and found it a great location close to the city and Adelaide Hills. It is also good value for money. We stayed in a standard double and it catered for all our needs having a microwave and tea and coffee making facilities. We were very happy and will definitely stay here again next time we come to Adelaide.

We spent a total of 4 nights at the Granada Motor Inn - three at the beginning of our two week trip to South Australia and then one night before we flew home. The accommodation was close to the city centre and not too far from the airport. It was also well located for our sightseeing trips into the city and the Adelaide hills. We stayed in an executive suite which had been newly renovated - it had a small fridge, microwave, tea and coffee making facilities and plates and cutlery. Although the inn is on a very busy road, we did not notice any traffic noise from our room. In all a pleasant stay at the Granada, reasonably priced and conveniently located for our holiday needs. PS: We booked over the phone rather than on the internet - and they were able to give us a better rate than what was available on-line.

Room Tip: If you aren't able to carry your bags upstairs - ask for a room on the ground level.
