“Simply Awesome”

This place has a lot going for it. The food, staff, location, and even the other customers are great! Lots to look at and do with shuffle boards, pool tables, darts, etc. Great place to meet up with friends after work or while waiting for a train, as the Amtrak station is across the street. The building fairly impressive too, it has upstairs seating so you can view down at others eating and enjoying themselves.

This is a fine place to hang out with friends for an afternoon or evening. The potbellied stove feels wonderful on chilly days and it's a convenient place to meet up. The Olympic Club offers pool tables and a movie theatre for entertainment, and live music on occasion.

Menu options are wide-ranging and include selections for vegetarians, kids, the mightily hungry and those with a smaller appetite. The food and beverages are good and reasonably priced. Happy Hour pricing is better still. Service is fast and friendly.

The decor is a bit worn and/or shabby but that's part of the fun and funky charm of the Olympic Club. The restrooms feature crazy plumbing at the sinks, and the hotel is fun to explore. All-in-all, a casual and comfortable experience.

“The Restroom Could Stand to be Cleaned”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

I am a huge McMenamins fan. There...that's said.

I will always go to one of their places if I'm near one rather than most anywhere else. Usually, the experience is a solid 4. Not this time.

The service was excellent, and the food was great. No issues on either count. Nope, my problem is with the men's restroom in the bar/cafe. It is gawd-awful! I could smell the old, stale urine before I went in. It was real bad while I was in there. I couldn't get done fast enough.

I know and applaud the efforts of the company to preserve as much as possible the original look of the buildings. But come on. Can't someone get a scrub brush out?

For all I know, part of the problem was that yesterday was New Year's Eve, But I know that isn't the whole issue. The room always stinks. And as time goes by, it's getting worse.

Later in the day, I was in a city park in Olympia, and the facility there was 100% cleaner than yours, and there was no old urine smell.

If not for this, I would have rated the Olympic at a 4.

“Great beer pub atmosphere”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

A restored old building with lots of tasteful wood trim this place is a perfect brew pub stop. Very warm and cozy with historical charm. Food is that which is familiar to visitors of other pubs in the McMenamins chain. Pizza is especially good. Beer is great craft beer that would please any fan of microbrews but is one notch shy of world class.

“The Good Old Days”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Friends in Washington State took us to The Olympic Club for dinner. This is also an hotel,
a pub, and a movie theater across from a train station. The building is old, real old, lots of
wood, dark and charming. The old pot bellied stove, more the size of a pregnant elephant,
must be delicious in the winter time, and I'll keep that in mind. The place was jammed and the
spirits (!) high. Their beer was very good and one of us dared try the raspberry beer. Hm.
The food was done well, hamburger, pizza and fish & chips is hard to go too wrong with.
The bathrooms must be mentioned for it may take you a few seconds to realize you are in one;
very old with many original features, but at least there was indoor plumbing which makes one
thankful for modern times too. Prizes were all right, the music light on the ears from earlier
days which suits many of us who are over the hill and not too deeply into punk rock and the
whining presented as singing these days. Service was attentive, as it should be. We would
gladly be back.
