The Camano Island State Park has numerous trails through the area and almost all come upon some sites that have great views. You do have to be aware of the cliffs in the area and keep children and pets on the path. We hike it at least two times per month, generally with our dogs. Lots of diversity and if the park is quiet you can generally hear eagles, other birds, quite often see seals and sometimes whales.

This is a great place to hike (lots of trails), comb beach for shells, camp, fish, catch crab, and observe wildlife. I've seen seals, whales, bald eagles, owls, deer, hummingbirds, and song birds. Some trails are labeled to identify trees and plants.

Clean, beautiful state park. I go once or twice a month. Good hiking trails. Beautiful views. Great camp sites. First come first serve, no reservations. A bit pricey for no hook ups but the beauty is worth it. 35 a night, Fri. Sat. and holidays, for premium camp site. Premium is a larger more private site. Other nights its 30. Prices go down from there. Seen Eagles, seals, and all kinds of critters from land and sea. No shellfish fishing for some time. It got depleted so that's out for a while. Lots of people go there on the weekends in the summer.

We made the mistake of thinking the beach would be a good beach to walk on and quickly realized the error of our ways. :) We made it far enough to find the boat ramp which had big stinky trucks backed up for miles waiting to put their boats in the water before deciding perhaps it was time to try a trail instead of the beach. This is when things greatly improved. The loop trail is a nice 3ish mile walk with some elevation change allowing for several great overlooks. It does awkwardly follow a road in some places and goes right through the middle of the camping area, but when you get past that it's quite peaceful and not heavily traveled. There are some really unique views (check out the attached pictures), and lots of plant and wild life to check out.
