This small homey place in the gorgeous Skagit Valley has a good base menu and truly creative and authentic rotating menus based on world and regional cuisines that are fun and tasty to experience. Ingredients are uber-fresh and as local as they can get; some even grown on-site. The chocolate chip mint ice cream will so put you off of any mint ice cream you can get anywhere else...they pick the mint fresh outside the back door of the kitchen! Even the salad dressings and desserts they make in-house and the cheddar dressing is a favorite of ours. In the past I have enjoyed meats and seafood masterfully prepared and remarkable, but other than appys, I've never had the same thing here twice. The service---most of the time one of the restaurant owners---is warm and welcoming and most of all genuine. None of that robotic, forced, "hi, I'm so-an-so and I'll be taking care of you" bulls***. Extensive and well-rounded wine list and little touches like fresh flowers on every table and quick-bites of some fresh kitchen goodies....tonight we got an olive relish on flatbread...complimentary.
In business for 30 years now, the smart owners close up for a few months in winter so they can recharge their batteries and keep their endeavor good for them so it's good for their customers.
There is a post office across the street and a gas station across the other street but otherwise just a lot of farmland surrounding this un-pretentious little gem. It's a few miles from any dense population, but completely worth a drive from wherever you might be reading this from. Read on their website what special meal they have in store for your visit.
