This is a converted old home that retains all the charm of such a place. As you walk upstairs to the restrooms, your hand touches the dark wood railing, you can sense the generations who went before you on that stairway. The dining rooms at the top of the stairs take you back to a time when a meal was a gathering and sharing of people and ideas.

We ate in the dining room, as the bar was a bit noisy because of the football game, which we were also able to watch from two televisions in the dining room. There is an excellent selection of beers, most are local hard-to find craft brews that were well selected. Our party ordered four appetisers and shared around family style. The pulled beef sliders were by far my favorites, expertly seasoned and generous in size. But everything was tasty and well-liked by all at the table.

Service is friendly and helpful, and I would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area who wants a quality meal with fine beers in a place that has a real personality.

The atmosphere may be casual but the Main St Ale House is very serious about their beer, ale and menu. The ale house does get noisy but outdoor seating is available for a quieter dining experience. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable about the various ales available. My son raved about the mac & cheese and I opted for the nachos, they were delicious. The prices were reasonable and we felt very welcome at the ale house

The Main Street Alehouse is a blend of small counter bar and a moderately sized restaurant. When full, it is quite loud (unless it's nice out and you are fortunate enough to get a seat in the outside area behind the restaurant). The food is really quite good; most entrees come with Main Street Ale House's homemade potato chips---the spicy ones are particularly great! Appetizers tend to cost about the same as the entrees but are generous portions. Their nachos made with the potato chips are a fun diversion from the regular recipe. We ate at the Ale House twice in one week. One of the times the restaurant was totally full. On the other occasion (later than most people would typically be there to eat lunch) the restaurant was about one-third full; on both occasions there did not seem to be enough wait staff for the number of patrons. I hope these were coincidental as the food is good, reasonably priced, and a nice addition to Bothell.
