“Great Food and Service”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

We stayed at Semiahmoo for two nights, and ate in the Packer Oyster Bar both nights. All of the waitstaff was excellent. They were very friendly, and also, very prompt in getting our orders. We ate off the bar menu. All of the food was very good. Much better than typical pub food. They have a good happy hour, and you can order off of the dining room menu if you wish. This area, plus the dining room is brand new. Both areas a beautifully decorated. We really enjoyed our time here.

“Alien Abduction of Waitresses”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Very strange experience. Came to this restaurant for a second time while visiting friends in the Bellingham area from Sacramento. The first experience was very nice. But when the aliens came in to remodel the place they snatched the managers and left the great view, decent food, and a chaotic group of ladies to run around the dining room, dodge patrons, and disappear from the hostess station. The resort itself was a ghost town of occasional staff who were polite and sharp with customary greetings. The view of the serene bay at sunset is wonderful. Upon entering the hostess desk or desks, there was no one. Finally, a young lady appeared who was hostessing both restaurants that were adjoined in a common lobby. Being asked to wait a moment was a lot longer than that and we were abandoned. Once the hostess reappeared, we decided to sit at the four table outside patio due to the lovely, but too loud musical attraction in the bar area. We sat near the only other table in use which was next to a family of five with two very active and loud small children which were in competition with the loud music team inside the bar. Water glasses were brought out that were the size of small juice glasses...inappropriate when water is what you really want to have with your meal. After a little wait, the food came out and all three choices (fish tacos, salmon burger, regular burger) were excellent. Substantial enough portions for an average person. No complimentary bread or other usual extras like the experience we had two years ago. Then the waitresses disappeared. There was a different one each time one came out of the door and onto the patio. Each was polite, but not overly friendly, not very attentive, no check back on how everything was going and no refill on my amoeba water glass. The check came and the waitress fleet disappeared. My friend had to physically find someone to take the check and return the change. When we finally got the change back in the vinyl folder, the receipt was gone and we were shorted four dollars. So much for complaining without a receipt/proof. The restaurant has soooo much potential with its location and nice new digs. Money has to be put aside for training and managing and there are too many other competing places to eat out there in this economy. Lack of outdoor patio space is a shame with such a fantastic backdrop. Too much emphasis on cocktails and not enough on customer service and regular dining. Noticed there were not as many people there during high season. That's a shame.

“amazing classic creative cocktails”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

I'm not sure how in the world anyone would rate this place less than 5 stars. won't be me! We stayed at Semiahmoo this last weekend and were delighted to find packers. The staff was welcoming and super informative of the menu...and the cocktail menu...THE COCKTAIL MENU! it's amazing! D.J. Riemer is the beverage supervisor and he's working on classic cocktails there. I was surprised to see at least 5 types of bitters (not just your classic but fennel and others!) and simple syrups (ginger caught my eye right away), all of the signature cocktails looked balanced and classic but with a twist of creativity. I'm excited to go back and try some other of their drinks! The bartender was happy to allow me to be a little creative with my choice and the fennel bitters were the highlight of that drink! We also tried the cheese and charcuterie and were pleasantly surprised with the quality and value of the appetizer. We were in pretty late and the night view is great but I can only imagine how gorgeous that would be at sunset. Can't wait to come back up and experience that! Thanks for taking great care of us! Can't wait to come back.

Great Views of the Ocean and very fresh oysters. A very lively and great place to chill. Fantastic atmosphere and the servers were great too! The seafood generally is very good and the happy hour 2:30pm -5pm time slot is popular too!
