For a place with 4* prices, the food and service are 2* at best. Although this is a recently reopened restaurant - the current offerings will not make many friends. There is soo much that could be improved so that the food and service are in-sych with the fantastic location

We hear you. Please be assured we are addressing both food and service such that each will be in-sync with our "fantastic location." It is in the best interests of all involved - the Blaine community, Semiahmoo Resort overnight guests and our entire Resort staff. Thank you for your feedback.

“Bad beginning to a new opening”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

The new Semiahmoo Resort opening was exciting for those of us who were so fond of Packers restaurant for a lunch by the water, dinner at sunset, etc. The current menu at the restaurant is terrible. I know they are trying new recipes and working on a "style" but I ordered a crab benedict for breakfast and what I got was nothing even near what one would expect when you see the word "benedict" on a menu. The poached egg was about the size of a golf ball, the "crab" was actually a small, very small crab cake deeply fried and seasoned, also about the size of the poached egg on top. About a dozen half new potatoes about the sizes of quarters, seasoned and fried to a crisp. No English muffin, minimum sauce and a piece of some kind of toast which tasted like very sour sourdough. Totally inedible. The server was EXTREMELY kind and offfered to bring me anything I wanted. I was limited in time, so I thanked her and the manager offered to pick up the tab and ask that I come back again. This was NOT the fault of the server who was excellent, nor the manager who was trying hard to be friendly and accommodating to us. It was the fault of the new chef's idea of what people like to eat! Sorry to say it is not appropriate for the setting. A good breakfast will draw in local people and those staying at the hotel, but a fancy, inedible, unconventional menu will doom the restaurant and by extension the resort itself. If it does not change, the new opening will fall flat and we will lose a wonderful opportunity for a fantastic resort and restaurant complex.

Your fondly recounted Semiahmoo memories, top ratings of the restaurant's atmosphere and very favorable comments about your recent Packers Oyster Bar service experience tempered the culinary shortfalls you thoughtfully outlined. We are absolutely committed to getting beyond our post opening issues quickly. And feedback such as yours is a necessary (albeit painful) part of getting us where we want and need to be. We understand what a valued part of the Blaine community Semiahmoo has been and will continue to be. We'll get there. Thank you.
