..I almost overlooked this gem during a previous visit to Birch Bay. Originally I felt as though I'd 'Stumbled Upon' this almost hidden resort. I now like to say Destiny brought me there. I've had nothing but peaceful, relaxing and refreshing stays at Birch Bay Get Away. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely disgusting! We booked a 2 bedroom cabin, for 2 nights in early October, on the recommendation of a relative that lives close by but had never stayed there. We drove in from Seattle and arrived late. As we drove up we saw an older guy standing in the parking lot looking at us as if he was wondering what we were doing there. We may have looked a little confused ourselves because we could not find a sign or anything that looked like an office. We pulled up and asked him where to check in...his response was...who are you? I told him my name as he looked at a piece of paper he was holding. As he looked up, he said park right here. We park beside a car that has obviously not been operational in a long time. We get out and ask if we need to go to the office. He says no and points to our cabin and says... keys are on the table... as he walks away into the cabin next to ours, which he appears to live in. There is an old tarp on the porch in front of his cabin covering up what appears to be trash. We should have got back in the car and drove away right then but it was late and we were exhausted from traveling all day so we went in. As we walk in, we notice how dirty the carpet and the grout in the kitchen tile is. We start turning on lights and its obvious this place is filthy. The blinds are so dirty you could write your name on them...the lamp shades are the same way. In the bathroom beside the toilet is the plunger and hanging from the pedestal sink....the toilet brush! We carefully got into the beds, which appear to be the only clean part of the cabin, and went to sleep. We wake up early the next morning and decide we've had enough of birch bay getaway and get out of there. As I sit in the restaurant eating breakfast, I email the office and let them know we were not satisfied with our cabin and have checked out. I also let them know I expect a refund of the 2nd nights stay. I leave my phone number and email expecting to hear from them later that morning. As I write this on November 17th...I've never received a response. I am going through my credit card company to try to get my money back. Birch Bay Washington is a beautiful place but this cabin/motel should have the slogan " birch bay getaway....when you realize what a dump this is...you'll want to get away!"
