“Reliably good food in a lovely port-side setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014

Anthony's Homeport is one of the Anthony's chain in Western Washington. Its standards are reliably high, food is always good, service is professional, and the ambiance is excellent, with stunning views of Squalicum Harbor, Bellingham Bay, and the San Juan Islands. Prices are high-moderate, but there is a weekday selection of "Sunset Dinners" served until 6:00PM that are complete 3-course meals at better prices. While there is no dress code, most diners choose "dressy casual." The Homeport is usually quite crowded in the evenings: reservations are highly recommended (and sometimes vital). Lunch time is less crowded; reservations are not usually necessary.

Anthony's "sister restaurant" nearby, the Hearthfire Grill, is a little smaller, a little more "mod" in setting, usually noisier, and boasts a more lively bar, complete with excellent "bar food" choices, big screen TVs showing live sports events, and an upscale happy hour. The menu, service, and setting are similar to the Homeport, but all are a bit more "West Coast" chic. There is also an outdoor dining area for those (rare) sunny days and balmy evenings. Prices are also similar. Reservations are even more vital than at the Homeport.

Either restaurant is a fine choice for a dinner party, date, or celebration. Expect dinner, with beverages, to cost around $22-25/person for the "Sunset Dinner"; a complete dinner off the regular menu, with beverage, will run about $28-35/person.

“How Many Ways Could this Go Wrong.....”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

Sunday Night Surf and Turf...garlic allergy limited me to almost no dinner as almost everything had garlic in it, a hide for bad cooking I always think. I ended up with a sirloin steak with a tablespoon of crab on top, no sauce, and some very overdone, yellow asparagus. $20. Many things were sold out, baked potatoes, 3 desserts and some other foods. We waited over an hour for dinner...most everyone was done by 7, so waiting til 8 for dinner was ridiculous. Someone comped my dinner, my server comped me pie. Everyone was very nice but the whole thing was just stupid. won't be back.

“What's the excuse?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2014

They have a fixed menu before 6pm that we thought was worth trying but with the wait, we weren't seated until 6:05. No option of the fixed menu for us. We ordered drinks and appy's and the appys came before the drinks.....I guess a bottle of wine was too hard to do. The poke' appy was good. For dinner, my wife ordered the mussels and half were cold. The food was average, the service below average. Not our first time here but our worst experience by far.

“Average food, above average prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2014 via mobile

The cocktails, fresh bread, and appetizers were all great, however we were pretty disappointed with the entrees. They offer pretty standard seafood dishes, lacking in creativity and very overpriced, in my opinion.

The ambience, cocktails, and service were great! I'm sure eating on the patio on a sunny day could make up for the so-so entrees.
