Owner description: The Historic Fairhaven District is a quaint, charming community full of boutiques, shops, spas and restaurants. It's located in Bellingham, WA on the south side of town, north of Seattle and south of Vancouver, BC. It's surrounded by miles of hiking and biking trails with beautiful views of the bay. It has a little of everything for the entire family. It's great for a day trip or a long relaxing weekend!

“Transplant Center”

The place is filled with Californian transplants and meth heads. Expensive farmer's market. Hard to find parking and crowded.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Recommended by friends, we were unsure what to expect in Fairhaven. Found an up and coming revitalized area of shops, restaurants and a great book store. They have kept the old town feeling.Be warned that the area is on a hill and my over 80 friend had to go slowly , so we did not get into the side streets.

What a cute little town! Clean, many shops to wander through. So many people out and about with their dogs! Loved it!

“Always enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

Fairhaven is a quaint, granola neighborhood that is stuck in the 1960s. It's a delightful place to walk for a relaxing afternoon. There are numerous interesting shops and restaurants, housed in historical buildings with gorgeous architecture. Bellingham Bay is visible, and close by is the over-the-water walkway that will take you to Boulevard Park, and Marine park is just a short two minute drive down the hill. If you are there in the evening, you may even catch the outdoor theater. The neighborhood is built on a fairly steep grade, so if walking is difficult for you, you'll want to be prepared for that. It's not prohibitive, but just be aware that some of the sidewalks have a fair incline to them.

Whether you are into local history (read Taimi Dunn Gorman's book Haunted Fairhaven), food, shopping or just gawking - this is the place to be. Of special note - Village Books and the Skylark Restaurant.
