“Beautiful Park, Loud Trains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

The beach here is beautiful, there is lotws of great hiking, and the tent campsites have a decent amount of privacy. If it weren't for the loud trains this would be the perfect camping place, but sadly there are trains that go by on a pretty regular basis - light sleepers bring earplugs.

“Excellent location for hiking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

This park is conveniently located to several beautiful hiking trails. It is also close to Bellingham, WA. so if you want to go into town for shopping or dining, it is an easy drive.
We hiked up to "Fragrance Lake" which is a small but gorgeous lake (5 miles round-trip; some elevation gain). There is also the Oyster Dome hiking trail nearby (I have not done this one yet).
You can find details on both hikes at the Washington Trail Association website http://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/.

Caveat: There is a train located very close to the campground. The park has done a good job of putting signs up indicating which specific camping sites are next to the railroad. So be aware of this issue when you are booking your campsite.

“Beware the trains!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014 via mobile

A wonderful park with a great shoreline. Beware freight trains sounds as they come thru the park in the middle of the night! If you have a significant RV, drive to the park from the north starting in
Fairhaven, the road from the south is beautiful but narrow.

“Beach and hills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

We enjoyed a morning walk along a short beach and then a steady incline trail hike, one of many in the park. It was Mother's Day and everyone was in the park so it was crowded, but it was a lovely day for an outing in a lovely place.

“Kids love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014 via mobile

My son loves being under the train as it goes by. My daughter loves to get on the stage and sing to people. Lots to do and trails to walk. Love to take my dog to the beach and swim. Great place to visit.
