Perfect place to hike and have fun with friends. Absolutely beautiful trails. Summertime is great for swimming, and it's fun to go try to feed ducks when it's autumn and the leaves are changing.

“hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Bellingham has some great urban parks, and Whatcom Falls Park may be its finest. From the central parking area, the roar of the water attracts visitors to a paved path leading to a sandstone bridge that spans Whatcom Creek. From there, the main waterfall may be appreciated. The bridge is impressive. Areas of the park near the creek are wooded with indigenous trees and shrubs. Past the bridge, the park’s trails become dirt and gravel paths that lead to other sections of the creek. Leashes are not required for dogs in this section of the park. Those who have visited the park know there is a lot more to Whatcom Falls than just waterfalls. The eastern-most half of the park consists of fields, tennis courts and a fish hatchery. Groups may also reserve covered picnic areas.

“A beautiful trail system worth exploring.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a lovely park with trails winding through a woody area near down town Bellingham. A river runs through the middle of this system of trails, which drops off at various levels creating tiers of falls. I enjoy walking and running and biking Whatcom Falls during any season of the year both with friends or solo. The tall trees and sound of the river create a relaxing atmosphere for those looking to wind-down. There are several good swimming locations along the river as well.

“Whatcom Falls-A tranquil retreat almost in the middle of town”

Tranquil wooded park with many trails and a lovely WPA historical stone bridge. A salmon hatchery is adjacent to the parking lot along with newer children's play equipment. The Falls keep us coming back!
