My friends and I go to Seastar every year for a celebratory holiday luncheon. A girlfriend and I also go here about once a quarter for a lovely lunch to catch up - and we love to just sit at the bar. Yesterday we took a friend to celebrate her birthday and sat at a table in the bar. Our waitress, Tiffany, picked up on the fact that it was her Birthday even though we didn't mention it and really spoiled her with a beautiful dessert of her choice and some truffles. We go to Seastar for a reason. The food and wine are delicious and the service is always wonderful.

I felt like having these awesome fellows, and the Seastar and John Howie's (which I'd just been to) seemed to be the only Bellevue places that served them. They are expensive of course, but well worth it.

This restaurant is for me a "find", but it's fairly crowded so I guess it's been found by the locals long ago. I had 4 legs (the thigh, "merus") done cedar plank style, and they were amazing. They come with a jazzed up butter sauce for dipping. I also had a caesar salad with so many anchovies even I was thinking: hmm, that's pretty much all the anchovies I want.

It's not on the menu, but if you want to save some $$, order only two legs or just one ... I think the price is respectively half and quarter.

As I waited in the bar for my dinner guests to arrive, I watched the sushi chef preparing orders. He wore clear gloves, but handled many utensils, open cooler doors, touched cold foods along with hot foods along with raw foods. He also sampled some of the pieces himself with his hands. He did not change the gloves for over 30 minutes and handled many items while wiping them off on the same rag the whole time. Not good clean-handling practices which could introduce cross-contamination. I brought this to the attention of the manager and he spoke with the chefs. He appreciated my input. The dinner we ate was very good. The halibut was prepared perfect. You must try the bisque. It's amazing. Great service from the bartenders and wait staff. Overall this restaurant is ok as it could use some deep cleaning and further training of the staff on restaurant cleanliness and maintenance.
