Red Lion Hotel Bellevue

The hotel definitely looks run down from the outside, but the rooms are surprisingly nice. Very comfortable bed (though the sheets were a tad scratchy) and nice bathroom with granite counter and great tile flooring. The wireless internet is definitely a great feature.

A few cautions:
There is no in-room safe and the safes available at the front desk are very tiny. I had wanted to store my laptop, but ended up carrying it around with me to all my meetings. The front desk staff were not terribly helpful and didn't seem to care. They told me that if I left it with them at the desk or in my room that they could not guarantee that an employee wouldn't steal it! I was floored.

The front desk staff are also unreliable when it comes to packages. I had a Fed Ex package that needed to go out, and they said they would call for a pick up. 2 days later I saw my package still sitting on the floor of the front desk area - they had never called. I had to call myself.

The hotel restaurant is not great -- just average food. There are lots of fabuolous restraurants in Bellevue - eat at one of those instead.

Does not make a good first impression. It's difficult to find heading north on I-405, which runs fifty feet from the front desk, and from the outside looks like a motel, despite the new paint job. Once inside the lobby you realize you are *not* in a motel.

Rooms are very well appointed, with pleasant fabrics and colors, including soft yellow bathroom towels. Granite countertops, lots of wood, real hangers in the closet. Decor is reminiscent of New England. Beautiful bed with lots of pillows (poly).

Several convention buildings were empty over the July 4th weekend. Room service was prompt and good quality. Front desk service was weak, they couldn't locate the jogging trail specifically mentioned in the hotel amenities book Also, they lost my credit card imprint that I had given for incidentals, forcing me to drag myself back to the front desk to check out, and further contradicting me when I said I had already done so. Still, nice place. It's a little outside Seattle (I bet crossing the bridge across the sound is slow during rush hour), but it only takes ten minutes to get downtown, twenty to the wineries in Woodinville.

Pleasantly surprised by this Red Liion. The general look outside when compared to its neighbor the Doubletree initially puts one off but as you approach closer the use of stone, plantings and other facelifts is very lush; kind of a upscale Robinson Crusoe feel as you walk under porticos between the buildings. And yes your access to the room is from inside. Inside everything is top grade from the lobby to hallways, large modern recessed lights down the hallways, and your room is like a Laura Ashley dream; truly feel like you're in someone's home. You have a nice empty refrigerator with small freezer. Plenty of nice plush towels etc. Bed was superbly comfortable. Great blackout blinds behind curtains.
FREE WIRELESS INTERNET but must have own computer.
Just gave me password and I was on in less than 30 seconds. If your computer does not have a wireless card apparently they will supply devices needed. Outdoor pool (not open in April), exercise area, food on premises. FREE SHUTTLE anywhere in Bellevue during your stay.

I just stayed at the Red Lion Bellevue for the second time in 3 months. Each time I had a great night's sleep. Very comfy bed, excellent pillows -- you wake up feeling nice and cozy and rested. The rest of the room is fine too, quite comfortable.
