The Eagle Harbor Inn
Reviewed June 27, 2008

My wife, 2 teen daughters and I just spent 3 nights at Eagle Harbor. We loved it. Beautifully maintained, located with a perfect view of the harbor, and within just feet of Winslow shopping.

The facility was great (including garaged parking for the townhome with an elevator to the 2 floors), gourmet kitchen. I could not have asked for a better Bainbridge location or experience.

This is a lovely property in a great location. The only reason that I did not give this a five star rating is due to noise level of the street and the fact that there is no one onsite. Our code didn't work when we arrived but we managed to contact the management by phone quickly. A personal note or contact of some kind would have gone a long way toward making this a five star experience.

We were very satisfied with the quality of the room and furnishings. We would most definitely stay here again.

We just completed a two night stay at the inn. I must agree that the location is outstanding. A short two block walk up the road leads to lovely, downtown Winthrop. A block in the other direction leads to the harbor, a locally popular pub and the earlier mentioned Pegasus Coffee House. Keep in mind that the inn is close to the road and even on weekends traffic noise can be considerable.

We stayed in the Port Blakely suite, a room with a king sized bed and a large shower (no tub). Frankly, there are some safety issues in the bathroom. The walk in shower is dark. There is no light in the shower, nor is there a grab bar. The floor of the shower quickly becomes slippery. The tile floor of the bathroom is cold in March. No rugs were provided and we did not have a bath mat the first night of our stay.

If you like "muddy" colors, you will enjoy the room decorations. Heavy, dark gold curtains, bedding, etc. Reminded me of the 1970s. We never say a living soul during our two night stay. The entry code system worked perfectly. The code was e-mailed to us several days before our scheduled arrival. Our room was cleaned while we were out. Our son lives on Bainbridge Island and we spent our waking hours with him. If you enjoy talking to inn keepers, you might find this arrangement not to your liking.

Excellent place to stay, the best in Kitsap County by far, and rivals most Inns in nearby Seattle. Architect-designed flairs and wonderful, modern appliances made this a wonderful, relaxing, quiet stay. Its location a block away from the main business district and across the street from the wonderful Pegasus Coffee and Eagle Harbor Marina put it into one of the most beautiful locations in the state. Highly recommended!

We usually stay at the Edgewater in Seattle when we want to visit the Seattle area and enjoy waterfront views. This time, the Edgewater was fully booked when we wanted to visit, so looking for alternatives, we came across this property on Bainbridge Island because the ferry drops you off practically a stones throw from the Inn and the popular waterfront of Seattle on the other side (with a lovely 35 minute ferry crossing as a bonus for water lovers like us. ) Sorry Edgewater, you'll never see us again. Eagle Harbor inn is unparallelled! We stayed one night in the Marina townhouse and one in the Vineyard Suite and both accomodations were stunning. With a full, gourmet kitchen, we prepared an incredible steak and lobster feast with fresh seafood, vegetables and fruits we picked up in Pikes Place Market the same day. We dined overlooking the incredible view of the boats lazily rocking in Eagle Harbor. We awoke each day to a steaming cup of coffee that we took to our private patio (after sleeping in a very comfortable bed each night replete with a thick down comforter reminiscent of the best European Inns we've enjoyed.) The photos simply do not do do this Inn justice, everyhting is top rate. For those who don't want to cook in-suite, there is a very nice bar and grill restuarant right across the street (overlooking the marina) as well as a quaint coffee shop and several other gourmet options on main street (all within easy walking distance!) If you're visiting Seattle, do yourself a huge favor and stay here instead of the Seattle waterfront! We're sold for good, and can't wait to make another reservation!

This is the best location on Bainbridge, in town and close to the ferry. It is like you are a guest in someone'e home, a very nice home. We have stayed in pretty much every room in the Inn and they all were very comfy and clean. The owners, Bonnie and Cihan, are super nice people and helpful.

I needed a vacation, but I was not expecting to really relax and recharge. Was I ever surprised! The proprietors of the inn took my husband and me on a wine, cheese, and crackers boat tour of the harbor, where we watched the sunset turn the Seattle skyline across the water into a pink and gold vision of paradise. (The boat is electric, and makes practically no noise at all.) The innkeepers directed us to a nearby kayak school where we took a couple of lessons that were so enjoyable we plan to seriously take up the sport. The accommodations themselves are remarkable: beautifully furnished, with the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, spotlessly clean, quiet, and architecturally interesting (one of the inn's owners, we learned, designed the building himself). The surrounding area is delightful and pedestrian-friendly. The shops in downtown Bainbridge are quaint and carry some unusual handcrafts, and the townsfolk are welcoming. The three days I spent at this inn were just great, and it was the most relaxing break I have had in several years. I highly recommend this inn!
