“THE best curated small museum I have ever been to.”

What a joy this place was. I went in to ask where a visitor center was and ended up staying for 90 minutes. Such interesting exhibitions. And the ladies at the front desk Tori and Helen were a joy. Who needed a visitor center when I had Tori? From vintage shops to restaurants and quirky not-to-be-missed treasures, Tori knew it all. I spent a week in Seattle, a city I adore, and it was by far the best day I'd had all week. Thanks ladies!

PS. It's free!

“Astonishing Gem”

Hard to believe such a knockout of a museum was put together on an island of 20,000 population. BIMA focuses on regional art and has demonstrated since opening June 2013, that the region's artists are worthy of this first rate space.

If you are in Seattle take the Bainbridge Island ferry (a 35 minute ride) and walk up to the museum which is about five minutes from the terminal.

“Gorgeous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

Beautiful architecture, lots of light and angles, and wonderful new art. This is a great destination for visitors. Recently visited on the island and though we hated to leave the beautiful outdoor weather (really!) we wanted to see this new museum. Could hardly drag ourselves out of there, but our stomachs were growling. Great looking cafe at the museum, but we had a date up the street, so we enjoyed our walk past beautiful shop windows on the way to the Blackbird Bakery. Great museum for older children, too.

“The classiest thing on Bainbridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013

OK -- admission of bias. Live on Bainbridge, contributed to the new museum. But we were blown away by what this community created: a gorgeous, innovative (and very green) space and at least so far wonderful permanent collection and temporary exhibits. Even the gift shop is classy -- nice art and objets for sale, and no schlock. It's perfectly located for visitors off the ferry, easy to wander through; and, more importantly, it has raised the level of what we as a community think we can do. And, to top it off, it's free.

“Free Admission”

If you're coming to Bainbridge on the ferry (walking) when you come up the hill toward town this museum is across Winslow Way and readily visible. It's not a huge museum but has a wonderful assortment of art objects and paintings and the displays are frequently changed. It's well worth spending a few minutes here to view and enjoy. And you can't beat the price!
