I heard about this place shortly before the Xmas holiday and had to wait until they reopened on 3 January to give it a try. First, I would disagree with any suggestion that this is an eat in market. There are 2 tables inside and 2 eating bars one that faces the kitchen and the other the parking lot. The market is just too small to accommodate eating in particularly as customers come and go. We bought meatball sandwiches with peppers to go. We had a 30 minute drive home but the sandwiches didn't get soggy. I would have liked a little more sauce but they were excellent. We went back today and bought bolognese sauce, fresh fettuccine & a container of meatballs. Not cheap at $30.80 but we're expecting it to be good.

Let's face it. Bainbridge Island has never been known and, until Via Rosa, was likely never to have been known for the finest in Italian cuisine. But, thanks to Via Rosa, more than a little bit and certainly a lot of the best of Italy has arrived on our Island and, even better, just a short walk from our home. For the most part, Via Rosa is not a take-out, but a take-it-home-and-cook-it-yourself place. And when Pino, the owner, advises to let it boil for just four minutes, he doesn't mean five or six or ten or twelve. He knows, after all, what he's talking about because - excuse all my after alls - he made it. The pastas are delicate and, if cooked properly, like delicious clouds that melt away in your mouth. The sauces are, day after day, consistent, striking at first taste and just plain reassuringly good in their after taste. Lots of folks get off the Seattle-to-Bainbridge ferry after work and make a dash to Via Rosa to pick-up something quick - and exquisitely delicious - to feed one and all for dinner. They''re never disappointed. Follow them and you won't be disappointed too.

This place is a sleeper. Found it while shopping at the Bay Hay and Feed across the street. Who would guess that such exceptional Italian food would be in this little strip. The stuffed tomatoes were fantastic; the roasted veggies were great; the lentil soup was delicious and the pizza bread was the perfect compliment. Wish we tried the cannolis but had sworn off desserts on this vacation. Too bad we didn't find this sooner, we would have brought back something different for dinner every day on the island!

Via Rosa 11 (Italian Market and Kitchen) has excellent eat in or take out food. The place is small and informal for eating in but it is fun to watch the pasta making in the kitchen. Pino and the entire staff love what they do and are happy to share and explain all the items and ingredients to interested people. The place has such a warm and inviting atmosphere and the pasta and the meatball sandwiches are delicious. Additionally, they sell fresh pasta to cook at home at the Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings on Bainbridge Island.

A gleaming clean commercial kitchen produces outstanding fresh pasta and sauces. Built for carry-out trade they recently added a few tables inside and out and it is fine for a casual lunch. It would be great if they had room for diners.
For carry out it is on the expensive side but not if you consider what this food would cost in a sit-down Italian restaurant.
Highly recommend this for take-out dining.
