I found this place on TripAdvisor while searching for a place for two old friends to meet, halfway between our homes in Wash., DC and Staunton, VA. The cafe is located within Fort Valley Nursery, with seating both inside the garden gift shop or in a covered area just outside, amid a variety of brilliantly colored blooming plants. The weekly Farmer's Market was in progress when we got there.

Narrowing down a choice from their wide range of interesting menu items, was tough. The panini and Greek salad were delicious. Now I know what they mean by "loaded" potato soup: it was thick, creamy, chunky with baked potatoes, topped with generous portions of thick bacon, and a mound of grated cheese. The dishes we saw on other diner's tables made us want to beg them for a bite. The staff is friendly and more than eager to please. My friend was happy with the unique birthday gifts she bought.

We happened to stop in Woodstock for lunch and wanted to avoid the chain restaurants. We came upon the Garden Cafe and noticed it was busy, so stopped in for lunch. We had a great lunch! The wraps were fresh and very tasty and the panini also was delicious. Because it was crowded, we were directed to a small table toward the back of the building and essentially were able to dine "privately". They checked up on us and gave free refills on drinks. Taking a look around the shop after lunch was fun too! A gem in a small town.

The Woodstock Garden Cafe, located inside Fort Valley Nursery, is a delightful interlude for your travels. The food is reliably tasty and fresh, with a varied menu that provides something for almost every taste or dietary preference. It's fun to stroll around the lovely nursery while you're there.
