“Wonderful visit - Excellent hospitality and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2014

We visited this historic inn near Woodstock VA and really enjoyed our stay. The hospitality was perfect, the location near the Shenandoah river and suspension bridge delightful. I would recommend this inn and will look forward to our next visit. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, with all rooms looking out over the mature garden and sloping lawns. A great place to relax and also with plenty of activities to explore around the inn when the mood strikes.

The owners' hospitality helped make this a stay most enjoyable.

Room Tip: All rooms overlook the gardens. There are upper and lower rooms - all with balcony and chairs.

With close to twenty years between stays, I have found that the Inn at Narrow Passage has lost neither its ambience nor has the hospitality of the innkeeper and owner diminished over time.

Located next to the Shenandoah River at the foot of the Massanutten Mountains, this small inn is within easy driving distance of many of the major and historical attractions within the Shenandoah Valley. With comfortable rooms, modern amenities like free Wi-Fi access, lovely secluded grounds, and a short walk to the picturesque river, a stay becomes even more memorable with the wonderful breakfast that Ed, the proprietor, prepares each morning.

With Interstate 81 running through the heart of the valley, one has may options for lodging in the Woodstock, Virginia area. However, the Inn at Narrow Passage offers an environment that is totally relaxing for any individual or family, no matter what the occasion. I would return with pleasure and without hesitation.

Room Tip: All rooms, either on the first or second floor, look out onto the grounds and surrounding meadow.

What a wonderful quick getaway from the busy city! Quiet retreat near several nice wineries, Route 11 potato chip factory, kayaking, and battlefields. Ed was a delightful host. The Inn has great history and beautiful grounds. We will return.

I had such a great weekend here. I wanted a peaceful, relaxing place where I could sit outside and write, and I got that and much more. A friend had recommended this place, and I'm glad she did -- the prices were very reasonable, and the entire stay was just wonderful.

Ed was fantastic -- giving me my space, but also ensuring the highest quality service. Breakfast was great, and Ed's homemade baked goods were fantastic.

My weekend was spent mostly outside, enjoying the beautiful porches and views of the Shenandoah. Just 10 minutes down the road was the quaint town of Edinburg, with main street shopping and restaurants. The Inn is also situated right next to a pond and a lovely country road, perfect for walking. There's a lovely foot bridge right next door, extending over Narrow Passage creek.

Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay -- I will definitely be back soon!

What a lovely time we had enjoying our long weekend stay at the Inn. The weather was perfect for us to enjoy the lobby fire as well as one in our room each night. Ed and Ellen treated us to a great breakfast each morning and there was plenty to snack on throughout the day too. We were a large group and Ed and Ellen were accomodating to all our special requirements. The location is perfect for visiting wineries and enjoying the waters of the Shenandoah river right out your front door.

Room Tip: Our room was great with fireplace and balcony on second floor

Ed and Ellen are wonderful hosts. He is a joy to talk to and learn about the area. Rustic inn with all your convienences , rooms with fireplaces , porches and a view of the Shenandoah river. Convenient to many great Virginia wineries. North Mountain Vineyard is a must!

The Inn at Narrow Passage is in a great location - allowing easy exploring of the beautiful surrounding areas and visiting some of the best wineries in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. This is a rustic inn, with the comfort of modern day convenience. Ed and Ellen were great hosts and our room was very comfortable, complete with fire each evening right in the bedroom - nice! The breakfasts were homemade and yummy, especially the large variety of homemade baked goods. The fresh fruit was a welcome addition to the rest of the feast. Thank you, Ellen, for the surprise goody bag. I enjoyed the muffins on our drive home. We come to this area every couple of years and would stay here again!

Room Tip: There are several rooms with fireplaces. I recommend one if the weather is cool. There are stairs...
