I was only able to stay here one night, but enjoyed it thoroughly. As is always the case with Residence Inn, it was really clean and had everything anyone could want in accommodations, especially if you need to stay for awhile. It was very close to the I-95 for convenience, but protected enough to be really quiet. The staff were really helpful about everything, and there is certainly a lot to do and see in that area. And as always, the complimentary full breakfast and breakfast staff, the free parking and the free wi-fi are nice added benefits. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We had a big family wedding in the Woodbridge area, and the Residence Inn was part of our hotel block. I stayed here for 4 nights and overall had a fairly good experience, although the first day or two of our stay was rather rocky -- so this review is more of a 3.5 rating than a full 4.

- The good: The front desk staff was courteous and were quick to answer our questions (if they had answers). The cleaning staff was great -- not only did they clean up our rooms (although didn't straighten things out), but one of them offered a stuffed animal and other toys to my niece and nephew, which was really sweet. We also had coordinated a shuttle between hotel and wedding venue, which went smoothly.

- The bad: We arrived late on our check-in day due to travel delays, so were exhausted and just wanted to crash. We found out during a call along the way, though, that while they had our reservation on file, they didn't have our room (AKA had given our room away) and didn't have anything else available. How could this have happened? No one could tell us. The room had been booked 2+ months in advance and we were part of the bride and groom's family for the wedding hotel block. Needless to say, this mix up caused a lot of stress at 1am. The person at the desk at night did her best to accommodate us in the one room she found was available (a 1BR instead of the reserved 2BR), but when we opened the door, we found that it was actually the room for another guest. Attempt #2, we were given the handicap-accessible room for the night (see below) and were moved the next day to the rooms we were supposed to have. Unfortunately, we were told our suites would be ready before 11am, but one of them wasn't actually ready until 4pm.

- There are 2 bedroom suites and 1 bedroom suites, plus 1 bedroom suites with or without a door separating the bedroom from living room. I saw all versions of these suites and they were all clean, relatively newly renovated, and comfortable. The full sized fridge is a big plus, and there is also a microwave, small range, and dish washer as part of the kitchenette.
- For our first night night in the handicap-accessible suite, it was clear this room had not been cleaned for a while. It was musty and the toiletries seemed to have been there a long time. Granted, the hotel was probably not prepared to have last minute guests in that room, but still - it should have at least been aired out more regularly.
- If you have allergies to animals, be warned that this hotel allows pets. They do have rooms in which pets have never stayed, though, but you have to make a special request.

- The hotel is basically part of a larger complex of stores and is adjacent to 2 other hotels. If you're looking for scenery, this is not the place to stay. But if you're looking for convenience, it's pretty great to be within walking distance of restaurants and chain stores for last minute needs (Target, Office Depot, Red Lobster, Chipotle, etc.). There is also a mall nearby.
- To get into the city, it's about a 40 minute drive but could be longer, depending on traffic. The hotel is right off of 395/95, so the drive itself is straightforward. Reagan Intl is the closest and most conveniently-located airport.
- If you want to take the metro, the closest stop is the Franconia/Springfield stop on the blue line, about a 20 mins drive. I found this distance to be longer than expected, but taking the metro was sometimes easier than facing awful DC traffic.

- complimentary parking
- complimentary breakfast, which was ok -- at least there was hot food and not just a continental breakfast, so it was filling (scrambled eggs, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, etc.)
- swimming pool and gym (although I didn't use either)
- big screen TV in the lobby, great for watching the World Cup!

So, while our stay was much better once we were relocated to our actual rooms, the whole ordeal from our first night really colored my view of the hotel -- and I hope this kind of mix up does not happen again.

Tip: DO call ahead of time about your reservation to make sure that the hotel has your room and is expecting you! This will (hopefully) save you from unfortunate surprises upon your arrival.

Room Tip: A top floor suite is the most comfortable with the least amount of extra noise. If you are allergic...

Loved the 1BR Suite. Clean, comfortable, nice and cozy. Kitchen was stocked with your standard utensils and even a wine glasses and an opener which was definitely needed. Breakfast was ok and staff was friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

The location is very central to other businesses in the area. The hotel is also off the road a bit so it is rather quiet. The accommodations were very good and the breakfast and dinner were very good quality.
