Stayed 2 nights during the week after Christmas so that we could ski at Wintergreen. We really enjoyed the condo. It had amazing views and a great location! The condo was roomy and very nicely furnished. We had one bedroom and two baths including a jacuzzi in the master bath. The skiing was pretty good too - they were making snow and not all the slopes were open but enough were to get in plenty of skiing.

Wintergreen is the place to go if you are looking for a great winter getaway! They provide a wonderful ski school, ice skating rink and more! Staff was EXTREMELY helpful and kind. Wonderful shopping and dining! We ate at the Edge. It was ok, but the waiter was the best! Very officiant, fast and well mannered. We stayed at White Oak. Very nice and clean. It's with in walking distance to the main lodge where everything is located.

Just got back from a getaway weekend trip to the resort. This was the weekend that skiing was supposed to start but the weather was way to warm to make snow. That was okay with us because we knew that ahead of time so it was no big deal. We did not plan on skiing anyway and because there was no snow the resort was fairly quiet and we had the run of the facilities we visited including the health center. We spent most of our time in the surrounding area hitting some wineries and breweries. Everyone at the resort was very friendly and helped us when we had any questions. We never interacted with anyone without getting a “Have a nice day” or “Thank you for coming.” It may be corny but simple stuff like that goes a long way today, especially with the competition for travel dollars.

Lodging
The condo we stayed in (Stonebridge 2057) was in excellent condition with nice furniture, clean and well maintained. This particular unit was on the lower level so we did not have the best view however we wanted to be near the spa and fitness center which was right across the street. We were not in the room much so it was no big deal. This unit had a full line-up of cable channels in addition to the basic service and a very nice gas fireplace.

General Comments
The resort was in very good shape. The only signs of wear we saw was in the indoor pool where a portion of the liner in the ceiling had torn off in one spot. Otherwise the health center was in very good shape including the locker rooms. Only concern I had was the size of the cardio area. I’m not sure if the cardio area would be big enough if a large number of visitors were at the resort. Since it was fairly empty we had no issues getting on equipment the second we arrived to work out. I’m sure it would be tough to get on anything when the resort is crowded. The indoor pool seemed big enough for the size of the resort.

Food
We grabbed two everything bagels to go from the Copper Mine Restaurant on Saturday. They were reasonably priced and they were actually bagels and not simply two rolls with a hole in the middle! Being from NY I go nuts over what some restaurants call a “bagel”! We also ate breakfast in there Sunday and we both felt the service was good and that it was not overly expensive. I had a very nice stuffed omelet, hash browns and coffee for about ten bucks which didn’t seem outrageous to me. My wife had a two egg meal which including hash browns and toast for about the same.

In summary I would highly recommend Wintergreen. It was a very nice stay and we will probably be back at some point down the road since we really love the Nellysford area and there are lots of things to do in the surrounding area.

Mother nature did not help us once again to achieve our opening date for ski season, but we are going strong now so I hope you can make it back before the season ends and thank you once again for your reviews on all the amenities around the resort.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the resort on your next trip.

Enjoyed our stay right after Thanksgiving - great holiday-themed events for the kids and great pool and spa. Enjoyed dinner at the Edge - good family place, again low-key but live music was a plus.

Our main concern was that we felt that we were forgotten when placed in a basment villa. We were there two nights at a relatively slow time but housekeeping never came. We were out most of the day of our full day there, and when we had the chance to ask at the front desk after dinner about the housekeeping no-show, they said they could send them then, but with three kids it was too late. We were just surprised they don't track what rooms housekeeping has serviced/not serviced, and that it took us having to raise it with them. That was the main complaint - otherwise a good family place, even when the ski lifts haven't been cranked up for the winter yet.

Within a few short hours were transported to the land of ski lifts and fireplaces, gorgeous condos/homes and an amazing vista. Wintergreen really is an season resort but the snow capped mountains and chilly temps were wonderful and unexpected. A very fine spa, good restaurants and excellent service make this a destination we will be revisiting in the very near future. Next time, maybe a house rental, this time we had a two bedroom/two bath condo, mountain view and really a fine unit. Dine a the restaurant and enjoy their bar as well, good selections for meals and beverages.

Room Tip: consider your priority as some units are closer to the tennis courts and spa, ask.

We were in the area to attend at wedding at Oak Ridge Estate – about 20 miles away in Arrington - so we booked a studio room at the Wintergreen Resort in the Timbers II complex - which boasted a entrance foyer, a full bathroom, small kitchen, including a kitchen table for two - a chair and small couch, and a queen size bed - it also included an outdoor patio complete with a cafe table and chairs where one could enjoy the mountain scenery. The room was cozy and decorated in the skiing, hiking, golfing motif. The ambience of The Edge Restaurant and Sports Bar was relaxing the wait staff friendly - entertainment was a one-man show with a guitar and acoustics - who included a wide variety of selections where the patrons could also join in. Since we did not have time to partake in everything that was available - a cluster of unique shops in the Mountain Inn and several restaurants on the property, we plan another visit to experience it all - the hiking trails, skiing, attending different events, etc. The mountains are absolutely breathtaking, so which ever season you plan to go, enjoy the drive – it’s worth it!

We spent three nights in the Highlands at a one bedroom condo, and were very pleased with the entire experience. The condo was clean, beautifully decorated that made it feel like a home away from home. Full size, new appliances were provided, and lots of wood for the fireplace in the living room. Our porch had a beautiful view of the mountains, which was a great way to start the day. During our stay we used the outdoor hot tubs (they have 3), the pool, the spa, and ate at the Edge restaurant. All services we used were very good, and dinner at the restaurant was fine, with a nice view. A couple things to think about, evening fog can be a problem so be aware of that as the resort is high up on the mountain, and try to bring supplies with you from the town, as the drive up the mountain is long, steep and winding, so you want to make sure you have what you need. They also have a store on site that provides many of the staples. There is hiking on the property and trail maps can be purchased at the nature center. The Resort is close to Monticello, Charlottesville, and there are lots of wineries and breweries in the area.

Room Tip: You pay extra for a room with a view, but it is worth IMO.
