“Excellent Veal Dishes”
Reviewed December 4, 2011

The Veal Sorrentina and Veal Fiorentina were excellent. Three large pieces of Veal at a very reasonable price. Salad or Soup, bread and pasta comes with each entree. Decent selection of wines and the house selections are good as well. The only disagreeable thing was our waitress. No personality at all, however, not bad enough to ruin our dining experience. The Cantina is a chain but the one in Winchester was very good.

“Much better quality than the big chain Italian places for the same price”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

This restaurant is close to the hotels for people that often use Winchester as a stop over point on their trips but because it is not on one the main streets it may go undiscovered by them. It is reasonably priced with very good Italian food and great service. They have special dishes on the weekends with enough variety to entice any palette and during the week the extensive menu will give you plenty to chose from, They try to be very accommodating so if you see a sauce or something paired with another dish don't hesitate to ask for a change.

“Great food done right!”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

Our family had a get together to celebrate our Aunt Polly's B-Day (96 yrs) and we all agreed, we wanted the best, thats why we chose Cantina D'Italia. The casual friendly atmosphere is just the beginning of our evening. The professional staff catered to our needs efficiently. The Chef impressed us with a variety of menu selections, and we carried home another cherished memory.........

“a let down”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

We picked this restaurant because it was close to the motel where we were staying. The "vibe" felt sort of dated and not very spiffy, (tho you could call it homey) The booth across from where we were seated had wide tears in both the seats (they do not use it) , tho we appreciated that the maitre'd seated us in an area that was not crowded.
The food was variable. The vegetable pasta dish was ok. I was not sure though if the veggies were fresh or from a frozen package of cut up vegetables. The steak with spinach and garlic mashed potatoes was "surprising". The steak topped with spinach was cooked just right. The mashed potatoes, though, were spread all over the plate and surrounded by gravy. And they were barely warm. I have never seen potatoes served like that. I moved the steak to my bread dish and sent the potatoes back. When the waiter reappeared with my dish he was apologetic that the potatoes were still served in this "potato soup" manner and said the cook insisted this was they way to do it. I took a couple of mouthfuls, but it was not very appealing. The waiter kindly did not charge us for this dish. He tried his best to remedy the situation.
I think this restaurant works if you are from Winchester, don't feel like cooking and know what to expect. We were from out of town and were hoping for something a little more special.
