My teenage daughter is a serious history fan. She wanted to do this tour! It was conducted by the Winchester Historical Society; one of the docents wore period clothing. The tour was well done, but very restrictive. The docent remained with the group throughout the tour, and we could not stay behind or return to the rooms to more thoroughly read and review the many exhibits. The home contains many antiques, but only a few that actually belonged in the house at the time (other pieces were all donated). There are several items in the museum that are very unique (including a wooden saddle).

Really did enjoy the escourted trip through the house by Ms Rorbach (same family that owned the property where Burnsides Bridge is at Antietam) and walking the house. Have seen inside the house in several movies and paintings - of which "Gods and Generals" was likely the most famous to have been filmed there. Of interesting side note of the Moore House is who it was that did the restoration of the house to its current status. The great granddaughter of Mr Moore was --- Mary Tyler Moore - who picked out the wallpaper and did so much in restoring her family house...Well worth the visit!

We enjoy Civil War History and we were looking forward to taking advantage of the three sites you can do when purchasing the ticket for all three. We walked the Old Town area and were able to follow the many signs to the attractions. The house and guided tour were very nice, intersting and informative. We enjoyed chatting with the guides after the tour as well. I would recommend doing the ticket for all three sites. The Headquarters and Abrams Delight were the two we enjoyed the most out of the three.

At Stonewall Jackson’s Winchester Headquarters where the docent was dressed in period costume, a lovely lavender dress with a huge hoop skirt, was extremely gracious and had a wealth of knowledge regarding Stonewall Jackson. I finally learned his middle name (Jonathan, which was his father's name and there is a story in that story.) Again, we traveled through the rooms and she explained the significance of each item, picture, flag and piece of furniture. (The house was originally built for Mary Tyler Moore’s great-grandfather who loaned it to Stonewall Jackson for his stay in Virginia.) She was the most succinct and interesting docent of the day and this was my favorite site that we visited in Winchester.

A nice stop, but not if you have issues with steps. Our guide was very good and gave a nice talk. The artifacts are amazing, if you like the Civil War.
