Our dinner was lovely. While we were dining, a young girl traveled the restaurant playing the violin. After dinner, about 9:00 p.m., the chef and owner came out and sang some lovely Italian songs. It must be a local favorite. He was very well received and added to the enjoyment of the evening.

Very sweet place. The owner greets you at the door. Varied menu, surprisingly extensive Italian wine list and very attentive service. I had an well prepared Ceasar salad ( Anchovies only on request but of excellent quality) and veal piccata, tart and lemony, with capers, a single caper berry and a side of farfalle with tomato sauce. The side was first rate, nicely cooked pasta with a well balanced light sauce with small pieces of tomato.

Violino's continues to provide amazing Italian food in Winchester, VA. It is fresh, it is homemade, it is really good. The bread basket with homemade bread has three kinds of perfect bread, the olive oil is fruity and delicious too. I had spaghetti carbonara and it was amazing...and had a perfectly poached egg on top. It may have been just a tad salty but that may have been the really excellent ham/bacon in it. Others had squid ink pasta with shrimp which was good too, the pasta with mushrooms with rosemary was enjoyed...and the baba rhum for dessert was terrific. Great wine list and terrific service too..You will like Violino's if you like real Italian food.

This was our second visit to Violino. The first resulted from a simple "drive by" after a volleyball tournament when we were all hungry. We were a bit underdressed, but that did not stop the folks at Violino from welcoming us in to their restaurant. The food then was so good, my nearly 17 year old said this was where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. So tonight, we at at Violino to celebrate # 17!! THe food was spectacular. The service was as good as it gets. We even dressed a bit more appropriately tonight! YUM!!!!!!! THe chef even came out and sang to my daughter...VOLARE!!!! :) A great dinner by ANY measure!!!!

I used TripAdvisor comments to pick this restaurant for our one night stay in historic Winchester. I'm not usually a fan of Italian, but this one was a winner! Service is spectacular and very attentive. Food specials were incredible (he had the lobster ravioli with lobster tail; I had a trio of ravioli). Both were superb! An appetizer special of paper thin meats (prosciutto, beef, rabbit and boar) was intriguing and not something we'd normally try. The restaurant is pretty small and cozy, nicely decorated, and the violin player was a nice touch. Total bill was about $125, but we thought it was worth the splurge. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
