“Not quite in the heart of the history of Winchester but worth seeing.”
Review of Abram's Delight

We did the multi attraction ticket for Abram's Delight, Stone Wall Jackson's Headquarters and Washington's Office Museum. Abrams Delight is not part of the Old Town like the other two. It is closer a mall, other retail stores and restaurant's. But it was worth going to. The guided tour was very informative and it was very enjoyable if you like history. If you are in the Old Town it is easy to follow the signs to Abram's Delight. We were very impressed with how well directions to the Old Town and other attracations were. They were frequent and easy to spot. It made for an enjoyable visit. We didn't get lost once!

This beautiful limestone structure with 18" thick exterior walls has been wonderfully restored. Tickets to go in were sold in another nearby building, so we went to get our tickets. For $9.00 (senior rate as opposed to $10) we gained entrance to 3 buildings, the one mentioned above, Washington’s Office, and Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters in Winchester. The docent's narrative of the Abraham Hollingsworth home as we were guided through the home was exceptional. Every question that we asked was answered with courtesy and detailed information. We also visited the primitive cabin which is also found on the property. It was a long but interesting story of how the Hollingsworth's came to the US (they were Quakers), and settled in this area.

It is a beautiful place to visit and explore, and the food is fantastic! A nice, romantic place. Great place for weddings and receptions.

I've stopped at this place several times over the last 10 years. The buildings are impeccably restored and the guides are informative. The lake is full of fish and surrounded by trees and next to the campus of Shenandoah University. A new free museum is also next door. This is a great stop for tourist and a nice day out for locals.

It was raining in sheets but the guide was willing to take me through the house. It is a wonderful stone house with 16-18 in thick exterior walls. There are several stitched samplers that are outstanding examples of needle work at the time they were completed. There are also excellent examples of local and Pennsylvania furniture. Allow more time if you want to walk around the grounds.
