We stayed at this amenities-loaded hotel while on a vacation trip and were very pleased that we chose it. Ambience: spacious and welcoming; room: large and well furnished with all one might hope to find provided in a good hotel room; amenities: nice pool and good fitness center, and the "expanded continental" breakfast was outstanding! If one hits the road for the day hungry it won't be the fault of Wingate by Wyndham! MANY nearby restaurants from which to choose for any of the three meals of a day with a range of prices and menus available with most in walking or short driving distance (3" - 5"). Minutes from I-81 with "easy off - easy on" access. Well situated in an attractive setting at the Northern terminus of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Skyline Drive. All in all, it's the first place I'd look to stay again when traveling in this area.
As frequent travelers to Winchester, my wife and I always stay at the Wingate. We have traveling to this area for various events at Shenandoah University since 2009. During that time we have stayed at many different properties, as there is a lot to choose from in Winchester.
Several years ago our son was attending the National Jazz Workshop at the University. The Wingate was the "official" hotel of the workshop, so we gave it a try. We have been staying here ever since.
The property is always well maintained and clean. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Special mention to Gary on the evening desk, who always takes good care of us when checking in and making future reservations.
The hotel is conveniently located to Shenandoah University, a good variety of restaurants and shopping.
With our son being a sophomore music student at the Shenandoah Conservatory, there will be many stays at the Wingate by Windham in Winchester in our future.
