We stayed in the Drummers Cottage round the corner from the main Inn. It was a lovely little place and so convenient for exploring Colonial Williamsburgh. Comfortable bed (although pillows not great). Our children had their own little bunk beds. The only problem for us was the breakfast. It states that muffins and juice will be delivered daily. There were cartons of orange juice in the fridge and a plate of pastries covered with cling. Not exactly what we expected. We ate half of one of the pastries - not nice. The same pastries were still there when we left 3 days later! It could have been so much better with so little effort. Also tea bags available but no kettle. Not sure how you are expected to make tea with only a coffee machine.

The Drummers Cottage is a stand-alone unit from the Inn proper. Because we understand the expectation for a bed and breakfast (The Inn) is to have a full breakfast we are very careful in our advertising and confirmation letter, which clearly states:
” Please note that breakfast is not included. Light pastry and juice will be delivered each day for the next morning. There are a coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator/freezer on site for your convenience.”
The pastries that we do deliver are baked fresh daily. The coffee machine allows you to make boiling hot water. You just do not put the coffee in during the cycle. We are pleased the guest enjoyed the ambiance, convenience, and beds offered by a stay in the Drummers Cottage. As a side note we have 2 wonderful restaurants that serve full breakfasts just outside our door.

This is a great hotel - perfect location in downtown Williamsburg, quiet and peaceful, impeccably clean, and quaintly decorated with a cozy colonial decor. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the steam shower was wonderful. The breakfast was delicious, and hot drinks and snacks were served all day/night at our convenience. I look forward to staying here again next time I´m in Williamsburg!

We stayed for 4 nights in this terrific inn which backs onto the magnificent town of Williamsburg. You are right there amongst the attractions, your car can be left in the nearby free parking facility and there are plnety of good restaurants within easy walking distance which is always a boon.

We stayed in the really splendid Cedars Suite, plenty of space, light and airy, a comfortable bed and an effective shower. There is even a small terrace albeit without much of a view.

Breakfast is a fairly simple affair but with an adequate choice and the hospitality provided by Billy and his small team was first class thoughout.

We have no hesitation in highly recommending this establishment.

Room Tip: All rooms are good here, some bigger than others

Very nice location right near w&m college and colonial Williamsburg. Charming rooms and good breakfast included. Parking is free and that is worth a lot in wburg. Can't beat location because you walk tp everything. Owner is very nice.

What a wonderful experience to stay at the Fife & Drum and feel as though we were living in Colonial Williamsburg. The accommodations were great and breakfast was delicious. We hope to return to the Inn for more exploration of the area's history.

My husband and I stayed at the Fife and Drum Inn for our anniversary trip to Colonial Williamsburg. Usually we stay in the Colonial Houses, but wanted to try something different. We booked The Conservancy Room for 3 nights. It's very charming. The canopy bed was very comfortable and the free-standing tub on the raised platform was the perfect size for a short girl like me.

The best part is the included breakfast! Fresh fruit, some sort of bake, bacon and biscuits were available each morning along with granola and orange juice. Lemonade, tea, coffee, and cookies are always out in the breakfast room. We took advantage of that as well as playing a game of checkers on the "colonial" checkerboard. The whole place is cozy and charming.

The only drawback is that it is a few more steps from its location in near Merchant Square to the historic attractions. If I weren't pregnant, I'm sure the extra walking would not have made much difference.

If you book, be aware that they offer a discount on Colonial Williamsburg passes. Be sure to get them through the Inn instead of on-line. I would rate this above the Williamsburg Lodge for value and atmosphere. It's slightly less than the cost of say the Brick House Tavern or Market Square Tavern. Only you get the very big bonus of the breakfast, which rates highly in my book!

Room Tip: The Conservancy Room is romantic.
