“Wonderful Colonial Williamsburg b and b”
Reviewed June 3, 2012

Spent one night at the beginning of June 2012 and had a wonderful time. Denise (owner) was very friendly and accommodating. My room was perfect—lovely old antiques, a nice poster bed, and a nice bathroom. Breakfast was so good. I definitely recommend this b and b. It is about five blocks west of Colonial Williamsburg proper, very easy walk.

Everything was so cozy and the innkeeper was very warm and inviting and willing to tell me all the best places to go for dinner or shopping. The breakfast was very top notch. I had a peach French toast with real whipped cream and lots of bacon and a souffle of eggs on the side and also a mound of fresh berries and melon. It was delectable! I would highly recommend!!

The owner was an incredible hostess. I loved to hear the history of the inn and enjoy breakfast recreations of the prior B&B owner...phenomenal! The inn is a short walk to local restaurants and events on William and Mary’s campus. My husband and I stayed on the top floor in the Treetop suite...it was so cute and the bed and linens were amazing! We anticipate staying here in the future; we had such a fantastic time. Also the owners offer discounts for military families, another great perk! The only challenge that we had was that there were athletic events during the evening on campus and we could hear some noise from the events. Also, being on a main corridor by the university, we could hear some of the college students returning to their homes after a late night (read…loud/yelling college students…ha!) However, that was minor compared to how great of a time we had at the inn. I definitely recommend it!

We stayed in the tree top suite with our two kids and the extra space was wonderful! We had two rooms and 3 beds.....it was nice to have the room to spread out. Our host was very friendly and the breakfasts were delicious! The location was great as well....a 2 minute drive and 10 min walk to the Colonial area. If I had one suggestion for improvement it would be that the house get central air. We did have a window unit in the bedroom but with 2 rooms, it was tough to regulate the temp. That aside, this was a wonderful 1st bed and breakfast for our 7 and 8 year old boys and we would suggest Applewood to travelers with kids who don't want a regular hotel experience.

Oh, what a find! The owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated with gorgeous furnishings and cozy fireplaces. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the breakfasts and the delicious baked treats that appeared like heavenly magic each day before we returned. The location was fantastic -- just up the street from historic Williamsburg and a short car trip to Yorktown and Jamestown. I will definitely recommend this B&B.

We selected this B&B because of the pictures on the website and we were so pleased with our choice. The location is great, only a half mile from history Williamsburg and very close to William and Mary college. The hostess is a very nice lady (with 2 adorable dogs), who happily chats with guests, offers directions and recommended all three of our dinner restaurant choices. My room, the Tree Top Suite, was beautifully decorated (as is the entire house), with a comfortable bed, fireplace, mini frig and a sitting room. Wonderfully relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Each morning we were treated to wonderful food with fresh seasonal fruit. Her baking is extra treat, pumpkin cookies and cherry & white chocolate chip cookies. I cannot recommend Applewood strongly enough.

Room Tip: If you like a bit of space, I highly recommend the Tree Top Suite. It is the entire 3rd floor, with...
