Chef John Gonzales has invented a truly unique dining experience. World class dishes of high-quality, fresh local/seasonal ingredients prepared before your eyes by the Chef and his assistant, served to an intimate theater-style audience (who get to eat) the dinner perfectly paired with inexpensive but excellent wines. The chef not only instructs on preparation as he is making your dinner, he often throws in the culinary history and kitchen chemistry. The pre fix might be more than most of us would spend for a typical dinner, but then the wines, and the private cooking lesson, and a whole evening's educational as well as gastronomic entertainment are thrown in for free. A Chef's Kitchen is a bargain! It's a once in a dining lifetime experience that if you can only do it once…DO IT! There is nothing else like this…anywhere. (And A Chef's Kitchen has a little shop that sells their excellent, inexpensive, and highly rated wines at bargain prices. More than once, I have bought a case!) But one catch: You may need to make reservations up to a month in advance. Chef Gonzales can only accommodate twenty-some guests for each class…er, dinner.

We have been fortunate to have visited A Chef's Kitchen several times in the past three years and we have never been disappointed, in fact we always leave thinking they will not be able to improve the next time and they always do!
Regardless of the menu, the food is always superb, the presentation and instruction is very enjoyable and presented in a way that you don't have to be a cook to understand or appreciate.
The time goes buy fast, I have never looked at my watch once during the 2.5/3 hrs.
Don't miss the opportunity to go if you are in Williamsburg, however you should book in advance and don't let a particular menu influence your decision - you may find that something you previously may not have cared for when prepared by others could become one of your favorites!

A Chef's Kitchen blends two hours of entertainment along with a dining experience. One reviewer noted it is like being a guest on a Food Channel taping, and I agree. The only difference is, as a guest, the patron also consumes each of the delicious dishes paired with a good, but inexpensive glass of wine. The food is fresh, and the menu changes by the month. The two chefs are wonderfully entertaining.

Our experience started at 6:30 p.m. with a welcoming glass of sparkling wine and a small appetizer. My party of 4 was seated in the back row, which is great as the patrons there are served first. The chefs prepared appetizer/soup, salad, main course and dessert. Only 27 persons are seated for this event, and reservations at least a month in advance is a must. My husband and friends are definitely coming back!

I came with my future mother-in-law and we didn't know what to expect. (You must make reservations in advance and days fill up quickly. If you visit their website they have the months menu, and you'll see why this is a great experience!)
The food was fabulous, I'm still talking about the scallop and lobster cake! Each course is paired with a great wine that they have available for sale.
The chefs explain everything as they are doing it-even the science behind it. They are funny and informative in such a cozy environment. They welcome questions and comments from the diners and you'll notice a lot of return customers.
I loved this and cannot wait to return!!

You might feel like you're a guest on a Food Channel taping in this stadium style seating arrangement. We arrived promptly at 6:30 pm, were welcomed with a glass of champagne and some finger food. Place cards indicated where we were to sit and then for 2 1/2 hours we were entertained by two talented chefs and fed some of the best food that was prepared right in front of us. Three different wines were served with different courses. We were entertained, educated, wined and dined all for less than the price of a theater ticket. What a bargain. We loved it! You must make reservations in advance.
