My husband and I were lucky enough to get a reservation for Saturday night at "A Chef's Kitchen". We learned of this place from Tripadvisor. What a treat! We loved the entire experience, from the warm reception we received as we arrived, to the champagne and hors d'oeuvres to the lovely piano music, by a local gifted high school student, to the demonstration by Chef John that kept us riveted. We took notes and learned so many things, about eggs and baking powder/soda and all kinds of olive oil, and how to cook a prime rib and the best corn bread ever -- every course was better than the course before. We have already talked about how we'd like to go back and bring family and friends. My husband mentioned to Chef John that he liked the end cut of prime rib -- At the end of the meal, John handed us a foil-shaped duck, containing the largest and most delicious end cut ever - What a treat! If you enjoy learning about cooking and if you enjoy eating, you won't want to miss this place!

“Amazing Evening”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

If you are a foodie, you must visit Chef's Kitchen in Williamsburg, VA. We went for our anniversary on Jan. 4. Reservations are a must....they sell-out 30-60 days in advance. From my first phone call to make reservations, to buying wine at the end of the evening, everything was great! Menus are available on their website. Menus change monthly, so check on line before you reserve. You arrive at 6:15 and pay for dinner ($85 plus tax and tip per person). There is a small shop to browse. At 6:30 you are welcomed by Chef John and his assistant Chef with champagne and appetizers (gouda and blue cheese apps the evening we went). Then you visit with other attendees and sip champagne while pianist serenades you for half an hour. Dinner begins promptly at 7:00. Seats are assigned and it is classroom seating for 28....tiered seating so not a bad seat in the house. Recipes are at your place setting. Chef John and his assistant cook and explain their techniques, ingredients, tips and methods for the next 2 and a half hours. You can ask questions at any time and they are so friendly. Willing to chat before and after dinner. Dinner is 5 courses and 3 glasses of wine. (If you like the wine it is available for $10 a bottle to purchase at the end of the evening.) (They also serve water for everyone and beer and soda if you don't like wine and tell them this in advance.) The food, service, attention to detail and friendliness of everyone at Chef's Kitchen makes this a must do! I highly recommend this experience and can't wait until we can return!

“A very neat experience”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This was one of the coolest dining experiences that my wife and I have shared together. If you are a fan of Food Network and like to know more about how good food is made, this is definitely a must see in this area. The meal consists of 5 courses, 3 glasses of wine, and a glass of champagne - the chefs will prepare a majority of this food right in front of an audience of about 25 people so they can understand the cooking style and learn how to make the dishes. Any small dishes that they prepare before dinner are also explained to the audience. The chefs are very friendly and the food is great - you even get to take home the recipes for the food that you ate if you wanted to make it at home. We will be coming back the next time we are in Williamsburg!

Reviewed January 3, 2013

The Chef's Kitchen is a fabulous experience! We try to go once or twice a year and wish our budget and their schedule allowed us to go more often.
The food is unbelievable. Chef John Gonzales and his staff are so friendly, entertaining and helpful.
If you enjoy great food, learning more about cooking and wonderful entertainment please do not miss this special experience.

John Gonzales and the Crew at A Chef's Kitchen are incredible! The entire experience is top notch and the food is always spectacular. It is amazing to watch them create their culinary masterpieces consistently and in such an entertaining manner. The wine pairings are always spot on without costing a fortune. We always leave with a case of vino and very full bellies. This is one of those very special occasions that I always look forward to weeks in advance...which is how you better book your reservation, by the way! Thanks for always being fantastic, A.C.K.Team!
