Spent one night at this lovely inn. Located on the grounds of a winery, the area is quite peaceful and pretty.. It is out of the city but close enough to visit Colonial Williamsburg. Fine food was prepared exceptionally in their dining room. Service at the Inn and in the dining room was perfect by their friendly and helpful staff. Room concept (European country) was enjoyable, each room from a different area. Large bathroom was bright and roomy. Some problems with hot water and water pressure but I'm sure that was ironed out. Breakfast was complimentary and well done. It included fresh fruit, quiche, cereals, outstanding croissants, plus juice and coffee and tea. (But, don't eat their yogurt which was Activia!) A plus at breakfast was a visit to our table by the owners who chatted with each table.

My husband and I recently stayed at Wedmore Place for a long weekend getaway and we loved it. The room was cozy and comfortable, the staff was superb and friendly, and the food was amazing. Definitely take advantage of the complimentary breakfast and splurge one night in the on-site restaurant. It's worth it. We want to go back and stay in more of the rooms!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Westphalia room (#33) which was right near the elevator. It was very quiet except...

When I first started looking for a hotel in the Williamsburg area I decided to move a little out of the central city. I found this amazing Inn. The entrance is a road that winds through the vineyards. The actual Inn is very lovely.
Each room is styled after a different country. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms modern but still in keeping with the style of the room. There are great views out of the rooms and a central courtyard with a fountain. The staff is very friendly and can be seen about the restaurant and the winery. The restaurant was amazing. The food was 5 star. The wine list was very good. Your stay includes a visit and tasting to their winery. Try it. oh did I mention there is a pool?

Room Tip: there is an elevator so all rooms are accessible

My boyfriend and I just stayed at Wedmore for the weekend and we both loved the place. The staff is so kind and accommodating and the property is very beautiful.
We stayed in the Bohemia room- each room is designed with an old world country in mind. It was painted a cheerful yellow with light wood furniture. Very pretty. Our room, like many there, had a wood-burning fireplace which we had the option of lighting if the evening was below 50 degrees (we never were in our room before the cutoff time of 9:30 PM so we did not get to enjoy that feature on this trip).
The fine furnishings in the hotel room and around the building are really interesting and lovely. There is a cozy library where guests can mingle during an evening happy hour with complimentary wine. We met a really nice couple from Pennsylvania who we spoke to frequently over the weekend.
The Williamsburg Winery next door provides a nice tour (gratis for Wedmore guests along with two souvenir glasses) and the very good wine there is offered in the restaurant at Wedmore.
The grounds are pretty and there are places to take a walk. We were provided a small map of the area with path suggestions. I wish there were better walking paths especially with the woodsy land around the vineyard and the James River being nearby. But I am sure most people staying there are heading to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown or Busch Gardens and do plenty of walking elsewhere.
The room was bright and clean (there are some comments about cleanliness in other posts but we saw no issue at all) and the king sized bed was soft with fluffy pillows and crisp linens. There was an armoire for clothing and plenty of drawer space if you don't like living directly out of a suitcase. The blinds blocked the sun well and our room view faced east. In the morning we could hear birds in the chimneys- which I actually liked.
There is a pool but October was too cool for it to be open. The pool area looked pretty and the fountains were running in the courtyards.
We had dinner one night with four non-guest friends at Cafe Provencal on the grounds and the meal was excellent. The owner of Wedmore was dining there that night and he approached our table twice for updates on our meal- we gave great reports.
There is a lovely complimentary breakfast in the morning and there is cereal, fruit, bread and croissants (those are flown in from Paris and they are crazy good!) as well as three varieties of breakfast quiche (the variety I had on Sunday was duck with manchego cheese and sun dried tomatoes- yum!)
Only cons:
Terrible cellular reception and spotty wifi. I think that there are just too many people on the wifi with all the devices people have today. The television stations are pretty dismal. I know a lot of people are not staying there for the TV but sometimes when you get back from a day of busy touring, you just want to watch something mindless to relax. I believe there were 8 channels that worked and two of them were almost always infomercials. There are definitely paper thin walls. We became accidental eavesdroppers on our neighbor's loud conversations at 3am one night and were careful to keep our voices down and TV low in our room.
But those are little things in the grand scheme. We would both definitely return.

Room Tip: Hardwood floors might make 2nd floor rooms a quieter option.

Lovely location at the winery, and very peaceful. Attempts to simulate France a bit of a failure with some old pine and furniture ruined by new pine with lacquer turning it orange. Room was sparse with a couple of kitchen chairs, and bath could use a handle for older folk. Restaurant lived up to its prices, and the breakfast was excellent. Good that the tickets for the tour of the winery were free as it was very mickey mouse. Tasting with glasses that couldn't be rinsed between wines. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful

This is a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location. It has pretty rooms and it is lovely to be close to the winery and to be able to do the tour and tasting. We also enjoyed the happy hour glass of wine. However there were a couple of things that bothered us. Firstly, for a hotel of this price consistent hot water would be nice, as well as proper conditioner! Also, they have beautiful hardwood floors but they are not that well insulated! We were in room 9, which is right above the restaurant and could hear all the people from the restaurant which was a little disconcerting, as well as the people walking around on the floor above us.

Room Tip: Avoid a room right above the restaurant!

We would share a number of the reflections of Connie M. The staff was very pleasant. However, the room was not at it's cleanest or the level we'd expect for a property at this price. TV offerings were very limited and the guide provided by the hotel referenced the TV's actual channel # and not the channel # from the Satellite. As I noted in my review of Cafe Provencal, the restaurant is exceptional and well worth enjoying the offerings.
