Not bad. Rooms were clean and newer. The staff was certainly nice and really tried to help where they could. It was nice to have two TVs, one for the front and one for the back room -- but no movies to rent on this system. Having an indoor pool was nice when the rain forced many of us to stay in. The location was good for access to historical sites, Busch Gardens and restaurants.

The hotel seemed woefully understaffed for the number of visitors. I'll start with basic things: 1. Lobby men's bathroom had no soap for 2 days; 2. I found out once I checked in that the hotel is "green"--that's great, but the room never really cooled off, there were no recycle bins and only one trash can for the whole room! 3. The restaurant was okay -- but never had enough staff to handle the visitors. The first night, we came in for dinner after an exhausting drive in and waited over an hour for food that was just not good or fresh. When you have two small children it was like prison with no way to calm the inmates! (Note of clarification: Children eat free at the restaurant off the kids menu if the parents order off the full menu; when we checked in, we were led to believe that the kids could order off the full menu for free.) The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and we thought we would have this today (Monday) only to find out that the buffet was only on the weekend. The food was cold and a big step down. A day earlier, the grits that were available at the buffet were delicious, but the grits ordered off the menu the next day were severely undercooked (clearly instant grits). I got 1/4 piece of toast with my breakfast. What was worse is the wait to be served and to check out. There was only ONE waitress and the restaurant was packed!!! I knew it would be busy given all the cars that arrived the night before. This is poor management! The poor waitress was running her butt off and never had a chance of taking care of everyone in a timely manner. The manager should have stepped up and called someone in or started taking orders instead of only listening to complaints. Maybe even opening a mini buffet given the crowds would have been called for. Something needs to change.

Mrs. McGowan,
Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay. It is important that we receive feedback in order to become better at serving our guest. It truly gives us the opportunity to be a great hotel that guest love and the opportunity to reach our goal of exceptional guest satisfaction
I want to apologize for not having soap in our men’s restroom as we routinely ensure that soap dispensers are filled for guest usage. I have noted and shared this with our Housekeeping staff along with noting and sharing your comments with our Maintenance team about the heating of your particular guest room. It is our goal to ensure that we provide an atmosphere that is not only welcoming and inviting but an atmosphere lending itself as a home away from home.
In addition, I am very sorry that our restaurant did not meet and exceed your expectations. We strive for consistency and realize the importance of having breakfast at the start of the day. It is my apologies that by not having the buffet throughout your stay while providing the kids eat free program are in fact an area of opportunity especially on peak times. I have discussed this in great lengths with our restaurant staff and have truly corrected this issue moving forward.
However, I do want to thank you for the opportunity in speaking with me during your dining experience on Monday morning and allowing me the opportunity to make your dining experience more enjoyable. I am sorry that you did not have enough time for us to re-make your food, which is understandable as you had already waited long enough.
Again, please accept my sincerest apologies. At Holiday Inn we have a hospitality promise to ensure the guest satisfaction and create an ideal stay. Please let me know if the solution offered on that Monday morning of your dining experience did not meet your expectations that you contact me directly. It is my goal to retain your business and in hopes of serving you in the near future.

Many Thanks,
Stevie Pinkerton

Jan at the Front Desk was fun, friendly, and knowledgeable! Hotel is conveniently located to various activities and restaurants. Modern and clean hotel with comfortable beds. It's not a premium hotel but it's nice--all Holiday Inns should look as good/clean as and perform like this one! Appreciate that they are a "green" hotel. We'll be back!

Outstanding Staff at all levels. Berk was on duty for my server and bartender--he loves his job and was excellent at multi-tasking. He took great pride in his job and was excellent with patrons of all ages. The manager on duty, she was outstanding as always. Entire staff is personable, efficient, and always looking for ways to make your stay pleasurable. This is my 3rd visit and definitely not my last. Rooms are clean, spacious, and up-to-date from the bathroom to the beds and pillows. and location, location, location--right off Rt 64 and close to all areas worth visiting.

Room Tip: Just speak with the manager--she will match you to the perfect room to meet your needs.

As we do each Thanksgiving week, we stayed at the Holiday Inn and Suites. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Jan at the desk and Geoff, the manager, was there and came over to welcome us back.

The layout of the suites is great. The bedroom is separated from the living room and bathroom by a heavy door. In the morning or even late at night, if you get up to watch TV in the living room or do work, you don't disturb anyone who is sleeping.

There is a microwave oven, a mini fridge and a small coffee maker. Since our last visit the hotel now has 24/7 complimentary coffee and hot water for tea outside of their restaurant downstairs. There is also a pool and a fitness center.

The rooms are clean and whether you need an extra luggage rack, extra towels, etc., the staff will graciously bring what you request to your room.

We were sorry to see the neighboring Gazebo Restaurant go out of business however we did like having a 24/7 open Denny's in its place. We didn't eat there but on a cold night we went over and bought hot soup to bring back to the room.

The hotel is convenient to the historic area and also to many restaurants. Geoff, the manager, and his staff go out of their way to make sure that you enjoy your stay.

We arrived on Friday and left on Sunday. The room was clean and very close to Williamsburg. Typical Holiday Inn…nothing fancy. Breakfast was ok…again nothing fancy. Beds were kind of soft…a negative for me but perhaps a plus for you.

I was coming to Williamsburg for a wedding. The block booked rooms at the Williamburg Inn and at the sister Lodge were sold out. I did search of what else was possible and convenient to the festivities on my agenda. After reading reviews on trip advisor I ended up at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites. Clean seemed to be the consistent theme as well as new and helpful staff. I was very impressed that the GM of the Hotel actually took the time to respond to reviews where there were issues.

In order not to duplicate all the positives that everyone else has stated, I would add that the front desk staff really impressed me with how knowledgeable they are and willing to go the extra mile. We were going to a wedding at William and Mary College and parking on the campus is challenging for the Wren Chapel. The front desk person was able to give us a few good pointers on how to navigate around this.

I would also add that the wait staff for breakfast were all courteous and helpful as well. Not always the case at many places. My only suggestion here would be to consider vegan guests. So having something like soy milk as an alternative for cereal would be very helpful. Fortunately, I know to usually bring my own.

All in all, great price/value.
