When I want sushi, Sushiya is the only choice I consider. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff is very welcoming and hospitable. The atmosphere is peaceful and cozy, perfect for dinner with family, friends, or as a couple. I enjoy the hibachi but sushi is the real highlight at Sushiya. And you should definitely try the tempura ice cream; it's amazing!

Sushiya hasn't been around long but it is excellent. We love it! The soups are amazing, the kids love it, the service is perfect and the owner is AWESOME!! The spider roll is amazing but mostly everything is here. As locals I am so happy to have this place right up the street. If you are visiting I would suggest it over any other place in The Burg.

We were staying nearby at the Powhatan and thought we would give this a try. Started out with a sushi sampler platter - delicious, especially the eel rolls. They came by with a bowl of mussels - on the house - and then we ordered another plate of just the eel. We've eaten sushi in many places and this ranks very high among those. Service was very good and prices reasonable. I would definitely go again - in fact, wanted to go the next night, but decided on seafood instead ...

My brother, who lives in the area, suggested we try Sushiya since he knows we're always in search of good sushi everywhere we go. It's located in a strip mall on John Tyler Highway, a few miles from Colonial Williamsburg where we were staying. Their sushi and nigiri are one of the best we've had. Nicely flavored with fresh ingredients, and presented well. Their rolls are pretty good too, as was the rice-infused green tea (my favorite), which was always replenished with a smile. The owner or manager of the restaurant walked around, greeting her regulars -- and there were many of them -- wishing them all a very happy New Year. She made a point of coming up to our table as well and talking to us, asking us if everything was ok. We never felt rushed and the young man who waited on us was quite busy with the other tables all night, but always had a smile. What a find! It's too bad they were closed on New Year's Day because we would've gone back without thinking twice. But now that we know where it is, we'll be back.
