This museum has very good collection of furniture (chairs, chests, tables, etc.), clocks, maps, musical instruments, paintings, sculptures from the colonial era. Tour guides are very good. Recommend highly to take the tours (free with admission)

“A huge variety”

This museum has so many different interesting things to see and they are set out in an unusual pattern. Especially great when it is raining!

“Big, high-quality, lovely curated collection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

If you love high-quality folk portraits, gorgeous quilts, old carousel horses, weather vanes, carved boxes, wood-carved tobacconist figures and so much more, Abby's collection is not to be missed. Beautifully curated in ample, well-marked rooms with clear placards, this is a great stop right adjacent to Colonial Williamaburg. A find! The one improvement I'd make is to add an audio guide to cut down on all the required reading and give visitors more time to look at the wonderful objects and paintings.

“Quite surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

Really did not expect much from the looks on the outside but the museum is fairly large with a great many varied displays. The gun display was impressive, the piano collection is quite good with audio equipment to let you listen to the actual instrument. The lecture on the quilts is worth the information especially the efforts on restoration. On our visit the gift shop was closed for inventory (so no entrance fee this day) and a couple of sections were closed off restaging some of the exhibits. The person serving food in the cafe had a cold and should have not been serving.

“So much to see”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

This museum has something for everyone! There is so much to see; we could have spent an entire day here. Fortunately, there are places to sit for resting tired feet, and a cafe if one gets hungry.
