Travelodge King William Inn is a good option for budget/student travelers. The accomodations are very basic, but clean and safe, and located about 5 minutes outside Colonial Williamsburg.
The rooms were quite old, but showed some meager attempts at updating: new TV (with HBO), updated carpeting, valuables safe, and wireless internet. A nice feature of the room was a folding partition dividing the dressing area from the rest of the room; given that I was sharing a room with another grad student, this came in handy when changing for dinner.
Linens were of average quality for this price-point. The beds, however, were firm to the point of being uncomfortable. The pillow quality was sub-par as well. The housekeeper had limited English, but I was able to convey my needs through hand-signs and pointing. She kindly left extra towels and washcloths each day.
The continental breakfast consisted of coffee, tea, juice, and Krispy Kreme products. Again, average for this price-point.
Check-in went smoothly, but a computer snafu made check-out a bit of an experience. The front desk staff was very apologetic for the delay, however.
Overall, given the touristy (inflated) prices for lodging near Williamsburg, I feel that I got my money's worth (I paid avg. of $80/night, booked 3 months in advance via internet). The "regular" rate of $119/night would, in my opinion, be too high for this type of motel.
