“Saturday Farmers' Market at Merchants Square”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2014

If you are visiting Williamsburg this summer, the farmers' market Saturday mornings is worth a stop. Vendors offer pastries and goodies along with coffee. Additionally, there are the typical farmers' market items, but peanuts and chocolates are available. Virginia peanuts are the best I have eaten and make great treats to take home. The chocolates from Chocolate Cravings are fabulous.

Parking is free in nearby lots for the morning market.

“Perfect afternoon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2014

Merchants Square, Historic Williamsburg - a wonderful combination of fine ware and nice restaurants. From The Peanut Shop to Berett's Seafood Restaurant to the Cheese Shop you can't go wrong if you plan to spend an afternoon wandering through this attraction.

“Blend of Williamsburg and Upscale Shopping”

Nice combination of souvenier, Williamsburg themed, and upscale shopping. Make sure to walk off the main street as many shops are tucked in on side streets.

“Perfect afternoon!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014

This was a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. The area is quaint and has a historical feel to it yet the stores are modern and unique. We found several gifts and lots of treats for ourselves. There are several stores here that are not chain stores and offer interesting items and in no way resemble the usual "made in China" type junk that you find in tourist towns. The parking garage is a reasonable $1 an hour. Every shop we visited had sincerely happy workers. Several local folks were walking their dogs and some local musicians were playing on the corners. It was perfect!

“Lovely, as always”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2014

Always enjoyable, no matter what time of year. No visit to Williamsburg is complete without a visit to Merchants Square for a little shopping and people-watching. It's commercial, but not overly so. It is in the middle of the historic area so even if you don't go to Colonial Williamsburg, (as in paying for), you can still get quite a bit of history and atmosphere just walking around here. The shops are great, the food is great. (Don't forget to visit the Scotland House if you're a Scots-person like me :)
