The food was nothing to brag about but the ambience was very nice with strolling period musicians. It was just down the street from our colonial house.

We had a wonderful dinner at Shield's Tavern. It was my birthday and they brought me a special birthday card with a pic of the tavern and signed by the staff. So nice. The food was the best.

We ate here on New Year's Eve. My husband had the plate of pork and I had the ale-potted beef. Both were delicious! Our waitress was friendly and helpful with suggestions. Inside and outside we saw candlelight and bonfires, Following dinner, we walked up Duke of Gloucester Street and enjoyed the fireworks near the Governor's Palace. A magical colonial evening!

The entertainment at dinner was great. We had a minstrel and a story teller. The food was plentiful. There was black pepper in every dish. There wasn't much room between dinners.

The food is excellent and the entertainment is, too. Dinner by candlelight. If fact, it is all candlelight. Dine there--you won't regret it.
