“Not the best seafood”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

I love seafood. I have eaten seafood in restaurants on the east, west and southern US coasts. I have enjoyed seafood dishes in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Jamacia, Spain, Corsica and Italy. Recently my wife and I went to "The Seafare & Steakhouse " in Williamsburg, VA. Although the atmosphere and service were excellent, I was greatly disappointed with the food. I ordered the soft shell crab and my wife ordered saute' mixed seafood dish. the crabs were soggy and the batter was excessively garlic flavored. In addition the crabs were passed the prime point for softness. My wife's saute' had so much garlic that the scallops, crab and shrimp all tasted the same. For a $70 meal, it was quite a disappointment.

“Best Steak in Williamsburg”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

They serve seafood, which my wife says is super, but their steaks are what I order. Nice selection and properly prepared per order. Great salad bar. Nice decor in restaurant. Conveniently located to the restored section. Free parking. Open for dinner hour. A premier Williamsburg restaurant. Highly recommended by a local.

“Don't have to wait for a decent meal”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Williamsburg has a ton of restaurants, and most are crowded and noisy on a Saturday night with a long wait to be seated. This is a great place to go if you don't want to wait for a good meal. The decor inside and out is aooealing. Service is attentive and friendly and the food is good, if not spectacular. They do try hard to be upscale, but it is more like 'high average'. it is good for a pleasant, if not memorable, night out.

“Slow Service, no substitutions”
Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

When paying $50 a person for dinner one might expect the courtesy of substituting a low-carb side for potatoes and bread for one party's side. Nope. No substitutions. Portions are small for the price, but well prepared. But the stubborn policy on substitutions and the VERY slow service (for us anyway, all the larger parties ordering wine got fast service) mean that my wife and I do have a generous substitution policy. We will be substituting other restaurants for the Seafare in all future visits to Williamsburg.

“Food - great, but more training needed”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

We were on a short vacation and had dinner here the first night. Unfortunately, our waitress was obviously new and seemed totally untrained and inexperienced. She was pleasant, but way too giggly and kept coming back to tell us the food was wonderful. The food was indeed very good, but she really was annoying. The salad I ordered was missing some ingredients (like bacon) that were mentioned on the menu, but it wasn't worth the time it would have taken to replace it. The tables are too close together - especially when the next table over was having their dessert flameed at the table and 3 waiters were watching the process.
