“High pressure sales, be prepared”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I were contacted via phone to claim a "free vacation" we had "won". While I knew it was likely a time share ploy and despite reading horrible reviews on this website and others, we agreed to a 2-night stay and $200 gift card in exchange for our participation in a 90 minute tour. I knew what I was getting myself into and since I had no intention of purchasing, I thought it couldn't be that bad.

I'll start by saying our "tour" was a joke and consisted of being driven around Williamsburg for an hour that did NOT count toward our 90 minute obligation, basically against our will since we were forced to leave our car and ride with an employee. After arriving (back) at the resort we were taken into a room full of overly eager sales people and potential buyers who all looked scared and unimpressed. They served hotdogs and popcorn and coffee in styrofoam cups like a used car lot. Our sales person was rather persistent but not offensive but the presentation went on and on and on and ....

After 3 hours we returned to the reception office to pick up our gift card. This is when the aggressive, high pressure and downright rude sales pitch came into play. Another 20 minutes of the song and dance and the sales person, KEVIN, got noticeably irritated and changed his tone to be much more degrading and taunting. I eventually closed the book and stood up at which time he rudely remarked "have a good day" as he walked away angrily.

All this said, the hotel is alright...nothing more and the central location is great. However, I would never do business with this company or any affiliate based solely on my interaction with the pack of wolves that are the sales staff. Like I said, I knew what to expect but could not have prepared myself for the completely shocking and unprofessional behavior of the staff.

We sincerely appreciate your detailed review of your experience with us. We are sorry that our sales team detracted from your vacation. We have had thousands of travelers take advantage of the perks provided in exchange for a preview of our resort and it is definitely not our common practice to insult or aggravate our guests during the sales presentation. We apologize for the treatment you received and your post has been sent to management so that steps can be taken to resolve these situations. Thank you again for your feedback and we hope this unpleasant experience does not deter you from visiting Williamsburg in the future.

A timeshre exchange to a very nice upstairs two bedroom unit. After reading some reviews relating to attitude of employee and condition of property, my personal experience was just the opposite. Traveling from the West my arrival was close to midnight. The desk is open 24 hours, a positive for late arrivals. Everything was ready and checkin was a breeze. The unit was clean and well furnished. Anytime I entered the lobby/clubhouse I was greeted with "good morning" or "good afternoon" by the staff. This is a large complex, but was very quiet during y visit. I have to wonder that after some long hard travel some folks might have arrived with an attitude and their comments reflected more upon themselves than resort personnel. I would recommend Williamsburg Plantation for a very enjoyable vacation experience. If your arriving late and need food the 7/11 on Longhill Road is open 24 hours.

Room Tip: Only a few units have a wood buring fireplace. Downstairs have gas & upstairs have electric sim...

We are Marriott owners and could not get into the Marriott in our time frame. Someone at Interval recommended Williamsburg Plantation. It looked ok when we pulled up but down hill from then on. The concierge desk gave incorrect directions to restaurants. The computers in the business center were inadequate and sometimes none functional. LIghting in living room so poor you could not read there. Blinds on windows inadequate, Lack of adequate blinds let in car lights from the parking lot.
It took three days to get additional chairs for the patio.
We are still trying to figure out what they were trying to sell at the sales presentation. What a scam!!! We think it was a unit at the Colonies at Williamsburg. We said no, but the salesman and others kept lowering the price to get us to buy.
They have a guard house but only occupied after 8:00pm. Non residents can be wandering the property all day long.
For us Williamsburg Plantation is a one and done trip.
My wife thinks she was bitten by bedbugs.

We exchanged our timeshare for this one threw interval international for the 2nd time in 3 years.1st time we stayed in a 2 bedroom this last time it was a 4 bedroom. Very happy each time.
We just came back may 11 wish we could of stayed another week. The indoor pool & hot tub is always clean. Grounds are well kept. Our 4 bedroom had a few minor problems but we called the desk & 5 minutes later maintains was at the door & took care of it.Love having a washer & dryer in the room. This resort is close to Colonial Williamsburg great when you want an afternoon break, close to go back & forth. Jamestown & Yorktown close also. So is Busch Gardens & Water country. Lots to do.This trip was a little early in the year so we didn't get to use the outdoor pool. But it was ready to open the day we checked out.Love Love Love the indoor pool & hot tub. If you are to tired to walk over the large whirlpool in the room was great. I will be back to this resort again.Hope this report helps any body going to travel to Williamsburg.

Room Tip: I love the 2 bedroom or more because getting ready in the mornings is made easier with 2 bathrooms.1...

Recently stayed here and my husband and I were very pleased by the condo set up and how neat and clean it was. One main issue for us was the bed in the room was small and not very comfortable but overall that did not ruin our trip to williamsburg for the weekend. We would totally stay here again and hopefully it wont be so overcast and raining so we can enjoy one of the many tennis courts they have on the property.

As timeshare owners who have exchanged weeks in 10 different resorts in North and South America and Europe, we found the Plantation OK, but only just. We had to go to NYC from Ottawa in December 2011 for business, and decided to spend Christmas at the resort. Luckily, they had Christmas lights along the drive to the Clubhouse, otherwise we would have missed it. The staff were friendly enough, but not exceptional; the unit was decent but some of the furniture could/should be replaced. We did like the location, as we were planning to catch up on US history, and places such as Jamestown Settlement and Yorktown Battlefield were just a short drive away. I doubt that we would do another exchange at this resort, though.

We booked here as an exchange and were hoping for the best...we called ahead to help make provision for our sons(both of which have disabilities) andtalked to a very nice girl who was helpful and im gathering new because she had no concept of what to do so she just went through the motions. So when we arrived nothing that we needed had been handled and we were placed in a position where making things easy for our kids wasnt going to happen.Needless to say I was beside myself and had to leave the check in area to keep things from getting out of hand. Then this young lady(i wish i could remember her name because she was a customer service guru and deserved notice) stepped in and worked until she found a way to meet our needs and then some. Our room was Enormous,2 bedrooms 2 Bath(one with a jaccuzi tub and sauna and clean there was a small issue with the A/C but maintence fixed it promptly. For us what seems to be a very small detail to some folks can become a vacation destroyer for us and I think this womans effort saved our trip. The location is pretty good not real far from anything but just far enough to not be caught up in tourist hell.Where we stayed was apparently one of the older units but it was clean and well kept.all in all it was a great trip and despite the awful first few strikes Williamsburgh Plantation hit a Grand slam and if we ever decide to visit williamsburgh again this is the ONLY place I will stay.
