“Colonies at Williamsburg--Spacious and Clean”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

The units at the Colonies are quite new, some even under construction. All have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with a full kitchen and living/patio area. The kitchen is completely supplied with full-sized appliances, and we appreciated the in-unit washer and dryer. The units must be insulated well as we did not hear any noise from other guests. Too early for the outdoor pool, but the indoor pool was wonderful. The staff was friendly and efficient. The easy access to area shopping and attractions is a real plus!

A group of six of us stayed in a two bedroom unit that sleeps 8 and there was plenty of room for us. The units are fairly new, nicely decorated, and spacious with a large kitchen, dining room, and two large bathrooms. Some of the views from the balconies look out into wooded areas. The clubhouse had indoor and outdoor pools and a hot tub outside. The outdoor pools were still closed for the season when we were there, but appeared to have a water playground for the kids. There are also group tours, classes, and activities available through the front desk. The complex is several miles outside of the main part of Williamsburg where Colonial Willaimsburg and William and Mary are, but that can also be a plus given the traffic around those historic areas. We've stayed in williamsburg several times and this was one of the best places we stayed. Would recommend day trips to Jamestown, Yorktown, and Hoggs Island via the Jamestown ferry (free).

Room Tip: Might be best to get a second or third level room. Ground floor rooms can be a little noisy as all...

Stumbled upon this location via my time share. The member ratings very good so I decided to visit. The kids jaws dropped from the moment the walked in. they loved the accommodations. Appliances and televisions are new. Rooms well appointed and spacious. Room was inviting and immediately felt like home away from home. The location is in great proximity of all the area attractions, Busch Gardens, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Jamestown, etc. Lots of restaurants nearby to choose from, and a Outlet shopping mall which was a bonus.
The kids loved the swimming pool indoor, as well as the play area, and my wife enjoyed the outdoor hot tub.
It was my first trip to Williamsburg, VA and I will be sure to return.
The one downside that I noticed was the sound of a train, the premise is not to far from a train track. although it didn't run late at night or sound the horn (whilst I was there) I did hear it on a couple of occasions. Bar that, everything else is spot on.

Don't know how to describe perfect. Quiet, upscale amenities and large units, Friendly Staff, pool was large and Fun, and location was great. Easy ride to all attractions. This complex is still in the process of being built but in our unit we didn't hear any construction. Would love to go again.

We've just returned from a quick get-away weekend in Williamsburg. Stayed at The Colonies, which is actually a time share, so I don't know how that works. It's still being built, so maybe they're renting out units until they're completed. However, there was NO attempt at a sales pitch at any time. The staff is super friendly, and the unit was spotless and extremely comfortable. There were 4 of us, and we ate breakfast in, then went sightseeing. Rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, and as I said, spotlessly clean. It's located on Olde Towne Road, so a quick drive to Rte 60 takes you right into all the doings. There's a great indoor pool and a fun looking outdoor pool. Since we two couples split the cost, it ended up to be just $90.00 per night per couple, and that beats similar "suite" accomodations elsewhere, especially since we were able to share the unit. Great place, loved it.

We haven’t had great luck with condo trades in recent years, so I was thrilled when we arrived at the Colonies of Williamsburg for Spring break this year! The condo immediately felt like home – very up-to-date and nicely decorated with a warm, inviting décor. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Two large full-size bathrooms made it a breeze for our entire family to get ready in the mornings. The condo was decently clean, although I did find two mismatched stray socks that the previous occupant had left. Parking was a bit tight – but we always managed to find a spot. There are no elevators, so if you have heavy luggage and are one the second level, be prepared to do some serious lifting. It's extremely secure, requiring your keycard to access 3 doors to your condo. The location is also very convenient having several good restaurants (Giuseppe’s and Olde Towne Pizza), a grocery store, pharmacy and a huge outlet mall less than a mile away. Colonial Williamsburg is not far from this complex, as well as Yorktown and Jamestown. We didn’t use any of the on-property amenities, but my son said it looked like they had a very nice swimming pool and activity center. As other reviewers have mentioned, be sure that you leave the condo in decent shape, following the instructions in the Guideline book, or else you may be charged a $50 cleaning fee. Not sure if we will be visiting Colonial Williamsburg in the near future, but if we do, we’ll definitely plan to stay at the Colonies of Williamsburg. It was great!

Room Tip: Be sure to request a first floor condo if you are unable to carry your luggage up the stairs to a se...

I highly recommend the Colonies at Williamsburg. I was surprised at how roomy this 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was. We were on the second floor and had our own washer and dryer in our unit. We asked for a cot which was $5 a night, it was delivered within minutes and fit it easily into the living room next to the nightstand. We had 7 people in our room and we fit comfortably. The master bathroom was large and the shower was immense. Everything was clean and worked well. Our room was quiet.

The kitchen was well equipped and everything looked brand new. You could easily have made a meal here. There were hair dryer's in the bathroom. The utility closet had a broom and dustpan, a vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board and even a laundry basket.

In the kitchen were two coffee packets to make coffee in the standard coffeemaker along with "condiment packets": sugar, sweet & low, and powder creamer. There was dishsoap, several dishwasher packets, a small packet of laundry detergent and even the cutest salt and pepper set. There were plenty of garbage bags, tissues and toilet paper. The only thing that I would suggest bringing your own was shampoo. There was only one mini bottle in each bath.

There were also picnic grills in front of each building if you wished to cook out. We did not have a chance to use the pools but they looked like fun. They were quite full already though, I think they may get crowded when this place is fully built. The only other con I would have is the parking is a bit tight. At one point I got the last parking space in the lot which was several buildings away from mine.

The free WiFi was wonderful and worked great. We saved a ton of money eating breakfasts in and packing lunches and snacks. A great find. I would definitely return.

Room Tip: First floors would be more convenient if you plan to grill as you can walk right out your patio to t...
