Owner description: Our 1-hour Ghostly Tales tour takes you through Williamsburg's historic area in the evening. You will be introduced to the historic importance of each site visited, you will hear of the local ghostly legends that surround them, and of recent encounters with the spirits that reside there. Our Walk About History tour is a 1 1/2-hour introduction to the history of Williamsburg - its historical importance, development in the 18th century, glimpses into daily life of colonial inhabitants, and modern restoration. Our unique African American History Tour is specific to the Black experience in Williamsburg and lasts 1 1/2 hours. ALL TOURS ARE OUTDOOR WALKING TOURS. WE DO NOT GO INSIDE THE BUILDINGS. An excellent choice if you have limited time to visit Williamsburg, or are looking for an in-depth orientation before touring the town on your own.

Super glad we did this tour! We did the Ghost tour for $12 a person and it was very entertaining. Our tour guide was a lady (I cannot remember her name) but she was very enthusiastic and really got into the ghost stories. You could tell that she believes in them, which made her tales all the more thrilling. By the end of the tour, I was too squeamish to even go up to the door of one of the houses she talked about. If you believe in ghosts, this tour will be excellent! And even if you don't, you can still appreciate her great story-telling. She also provided a small history on each of the places we visited, which was a nice bonus.

Williamsburg was sheer joy for my family and I. I never thought we would have so much fun - a combination of learning and experiencing something very new. The Williamsburg vacation compares favorably with far more exotic or expensive travel to Paris, Rome, Venice, Hawaii, Orlando, etc. It is closer to home, much less expensive, and by nearly all measures more worthwhile.

We spent a total of four days in the Williamsburg area and visited the three major destinations: Williamsburg, Yorktown, and Jamestown. All three where fascinating in their own right, but what made the Williamsburg experience unique is the total immersion into the colonial period.

My family could easily spend a few minutes at a shop, 30 minutes, an hour, or two just talking to the various shop keepers or weavers. For example, at a book binder, we started discussing the details of book binding in the colonial period, and time quickly flew by. At another shop, my younger daughter helped a shoe maker with soaking the leather and for that she was rewarded a piece of leather. My girls had so much fun that we will return.

For families, I highly recommend at least 3 days in the area - one for each of the major destinations. There are many choices of hotels and food in the area; none was exceptional but generally good. And if you want to visit Busch Garden, then plan one more day.

But the most important thing to prepare is mindset - be ready to be transformed 200 years back in to an era in which nearly everything is done manually. Enjoy.

My wife and our 21/2 year old daughter went to williamsburg this past weekend and it was awesome there are a lot of sights to see and the people were very nice and you have to get some of the chowingtons tavern rootbeer! It is amazing. You won't be disappointed and also the cheese shop have delicious sandwiches that are a little pricey but it was definatly worth it.

We took the 3 day walking tours--unlimited access..It was wonderful. Many walking tours and authenic food taverns. I would recommend this to anyone interested in colonial history.. There was a fee for the tours--the 3- day was the most economical. there were tour bused that ran into colonial williamsburg every 15 minutes. there were shops just on the outskirts of the villiage that allowed regular traffic. There were buggy tours and you could also wander as you wanted, but some tours were paid tours. Very nice.
